Democrat Tries to Chastise Rep. Steube for Holding Handgun In Own Home. Instantly Regrets It.

We know that most of what is happening is political pageantry. It’s true on both sides of the aisle.

In the wake of recent tragedies related to guns, it seems that Liberals have taken it to the next level. In fact, most can’t hold normal conversations without trying to shoot their vitriol and push their point at every turn.

Not only is it not constructive, it’s annoying. A recent example of this is when Texas Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee decided to insert herself into Republican Rep.Greg Steube‘s time testifying  during a House Judiciary hearing about guns.

However, instead of tripping up Steube, she found out really quick that Florida congressmen are not easily rattled by snippy, passive aggressive statements.

Fox News provides details of what happened.

Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., snapped back at Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, when she commented on his use of firearms during a Thursday congressional hearing.

The incident occurred during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Democratic “Protect Our Kids” package, an expansive piece of gun control legislation that Democrats argue is common sense, while Republicans say it is overly broad and unconstitutional.

Steube was making his arguments virtually from his home. As part of his reasoning for coming against the legislation in question, he used some of the firearms he had in his home as visual references.

Keep in mind, this wasn’t a parlor trick. Presenting weapons on camera was not meant to be theatrical.

It was meant to accurately communicate what this type of legislation would mean for what law abiding Americans could have in their homes. Fox pulls part of what he says to communicate this.

“Here’s a gun I carry every single day to protect myself, my family, my wife and my home,” Steube said.

“This is a XL Sig Sauer P365. It comes with a 15-round magazine. Here’s a seven-round magazine, which would be less than what would be lawful under this bill if this bill were to become law,” he said, holding both magazines and attempting to insert the latter into the firearm.

Perfectly logical and within the context of what he is trying to communicate.

But you see, Liberals can’t have calm logical conversations. They always need to try and start something.

However in this case, Sheila Jackson Lee found out her theatrics, rudeness and aggression would not be derailing the point Steube was making.

This is the point when Lee tries to police Steube’s guns.

“It doesn’t fit, so this gun would be banned,” he said.

“I hope that gun is not loaded,” Lee then interjected.

“I’m at my house. I can do whatever I want with my guns,” Steube shot back.

Without missing a beat, Steube not only put Jackson in her place, he exposed the entire problem with the conversations lawmakers are having.

Lawmakers like Sheila are trying to make laws based on their preferences, NOT the Constitution.

In that moment, Sheila’s only concern was her preference and what she was comfortable with. What was constitutionally and lawfully acceptable did not even occur to her.

With that one little exchange, Steube demonstrated to all of us that this debate is not about safety. It’s all about control.

Steube rightfully stood up for what is within his rights which is what many of us are finding is necessary.

You can check out the video of Rep. Steube’s testimony. Notice the combative and dismissive treatment he receives from Adler, the chairman of the committee.

You can see Sheila Jackson Lee get put in her place at the 2:00 minute mark.
