After two days since voting ended, there is still no winner in the GOP Senate Primary in Pennsylvania.

The tight race between Dr. Oz and Dave McCormick has yet to have a winner.

Currently, Dr. Oz is slightly ahead of McCormick by 1,753 votes but there are still over 22,000 mail-in ballots to be counted.

The current results of the PA primary have Dr. Oz in the lead with 31.3%, McCormick with 31.1% of the vote, and Kathy Barnette with 24.7% ( now conceded).

The days of finding out who won an election overnight are all but gone.

The Associated Press shared these details:

Heart surgeon-turned-TV celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund CEO David McCormick spent Wednesday essentially tied in Pennsylvania’s hotly contested race for the Republican nomination to fill an open U.S. Senate seat. It’s also expected to be among the party’s most competitive races with the Democrats in the fall.

The GOP nomination battle was still too early to call.

Oz led McCormick by 1,723 votes Wednesday, out of more than 1.3 million votes counted. There were tens of thousands of votes left to be counted, including at least 22,000 mail ballots and an unknown number of votes cast on election day.

Statewide, McCormick was doing better than Oz among mail ballots, while Oz was doing better among votes cast on election day. Counties also must still count provisional, overseas and military absentee ballots before they certify their results to the state by next Tuesday’s deadline.

The race was close enough to trigger Pennsylvania’s automatic recount law, with the separation between the candidates inside the law’s 0.5% margin.

Oz and McCormick emerged at their election night watch parties after midnight to say they would have to wait for vote-counting to resume, with each saying he was confident of victory. Former President Donald Trump encouraged Oz to preemptively declare victory. but Oz has made no indication of doing so.

Fox News had these details to share:

Vote counting resumed Wednesday morning in Pennsylvania’s high stakes and extremely combustible and expensive GOP Senate primary, with Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick virtually deadlocked.

Some counties in the crucial general election battleground have yet to tabulate mail-in ballots, and the counting of absentee, provisional, and overseas and military ballots could take days.

The Pennsylvania Department of State told Fox News that as of 11am on Wednesday, approximately 105,000 mail-in ballots still needed to be counted.

Oz held a razor-thin advantage over McCormick the day after the primary, as the vote count continued. But the margin is currently well within the 0.5% that triggers an automatic recount mandated by the state’s top election official. By law, Pennsylvania’s Secretary of State must order a recount by 5 p.m. May 26 if the margin stays with .5%.
