One Democratic lawmaker let the cat out of the bag.

While addressing lawmakers on the House floor, Democrat Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland told Congress that it was a time for unity due to the fact the United States is in a war.

Hoyer was quoted saying “It is unfortunate that in a time of war, we spend all the time blaming our own president”.

Watch the moment he said it here:

Congress has yet to declare war on Russia but it appears it’s bound to happen.

KATV added these details:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer stunned social media Friday when he claimed ‘we’re at war,’ apparently referring to the U.S.’s position in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The comments came when Sen. Hoyer, D-Md., was arguing on the House floor about the current energy crisis, which has led to record-high gas prices for Americans.

“The free market is one reason why this is happening. I’m for the free market because sound business judgements work … Everybody’s happy, except the consumer of course, who, because supply on the world markets – and it’s a world market price – it’s not Biden’s price, it’s a world market price – have gone up because demand is up and supply is down. So, I don’t know how the [Republican leader] rationalizes his comments about Biden constricting petroleum production, when the permits issued in one year are three times the number of permits that Mr. Trump issued in the first three years of his term.”

Fox News shared these details:

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., on Friday slammed Republicans for criticizing President Biden when “we’re at war.”

Hoyer, the second-highest-ranking House Democrat made the inflammatory statement while debating on the House floor, pushing back on Republicans’ pointing out Biden has “clamped down” on producing energy domestically.

“The Biden administration approved more drilling permits in 2021 than the Trump administration approved in the first three years they were in office,” Hoyer said. “I don’t know how the [Republican leader] rationalizes his comments about the Biden constricting petroleum production.”

“It is unfortunate that in a time of war, that we spend all the time blaming our own president,” Hoyer continued. “It is unfortunate that when the Europeans put themselves over the objections of numerous administrations in a place where they had a dependence on Russia, Russia has no leverage over us.”
