Elon Musk in his latest interview told it how it is.

While being interviewed at the “Future of the Car” conference Musk stated Trump’s Twitter ban was “morally wrong” and “flat out stupid”.

Musk would go on to say that when he does officially buy Twitter and has full control over the company then he will reverse Trump’s Twitter ban.

Fox News had more on the story:

Elon Musk would overturn former President Donald Trump’s ban from Twitter if his purchase of the company is successful, the billionaire Tesla owner said Tuesday.

Musk made the comment during an appearance at FT Live’s “Future of the Car” conference on Tuesday. Twitter accepted his offer to purchase the company on April 25, but Musk says the deal will take another two to three months before it is finalized.

“Permanent bans should be extremely rare and really reserved for accounts that are bots, or scam, spam accounts… I do think it was not correct to ban Donald Trump,” Musk said. “I think that was a mistake, because it alienated a large part of the country and did not ultimately result in Donald Trump not having a voice.”

“I would reverse the permanent ban,” Musk added. “I don’t own Twitter yet. So this is not like a thing that will definitely happen, because what if I don’t own Twitter?”

BBC chipped in too:

Elon Musk says if his bid to buy Twitter is successful he will reverse Donald Trump’s ban from the platform.

The richest man in the world agreed a $44bn (£34.5bn) takeover bid with the Twitter board last month.

But he said it was not a done deal and that ideally it would be completed in the next two to three months.

Twitter’s decision to ban the former US president was “morally wrong and flat-out stupid”, Mr Musk told the Financial Times Future of the Car summit.

In January 2021, Twitter said Mr Trump’s account was “permanently suspended… due to the risk of further incitement of violence” following the storming of the Capitol.

But the Tesla owner said: “I would reverse the permanent ban but I don’t own Twitter yet so this is not a thing that will definitely happen.”
