Michael ‘Mikey’ Hynes, a 22-year-old student at the University of Limerick, tragically passed away on Tuesday.
Tributes have been paid to the 4th-year business student.

His death notice reads: “The death has occurred of Michael (Mikey), age 22, at his home, predeceased by his grandparents J.J. Hynes, Larry and Annie Kerrigan (Belmullet, Co. Mayo).
“Deeply missed by his heartbroken, loving family, parents Declan and Annette, sisters Katie, Alison and Corinna, his granny Teresa (Hynes), aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and his beautiful bunch of friends.
“Mikey will repose at the family home in Whitegate (V94 KH5X) on Saturday April 9th, from 12 noon with Prayers at 8pm.
“Funeral Mass on Sunday, April 10th, in St. Flannan’s Church, Whitegate at 1pm with burial afterwards in Clonrush Cemetery.
“I am so very sad to inform you of the sudden and tragic death of UL student Michael Hynes, Whitegate, Co Clare who was a year four Bachelor of Business Studies student,” UL President Prof Kerstin Mey shared via email.
