WATCH: Jan 6th Protestor Granted Asylum In Belarus

A certain segment of the country has some harsh words for Evan Neumann…

Following a slew of charges filed against him for his alleged role in the January 6th riots, Neumann reportedly left the U.S, and I don’t blame him; I would too if I were facing inhumane treatment in a state-run prison for political crimes.

The latest reports indicate that Neumann has found a new home in Belarus after authorities granted him asylum.

Neumann describes his asylum approval as ‘bittersweet’, and it is unclear at this time whether or not Neumann will ever be allowed to return to the U.S. to live a normal life.

The Belarus media took the chance to televise the story, which makes me wonder…

Was this some sort of slap in the face to the Biden administration? Belarus has officially stated that Neumann’s case is purely political, and I agree with them, but Belarus is a dictatorship which is known to prosecute political crimes….

Surely they can’t be helping Neumann so publicly in the name of humanitarian motives…

Take a look at these reports and let us know what you think:

Establishment outlet NPR had more on Neumann’s recent asylum status:

He received his new Belarusian identification document from the department of citizenship and migration office in Brest, with reporters looking on.

Belarus claims that the U.S. charges against Neumann are politically motivated. He was granted refugee status almost exactly one year after the first criminal complaint was filed against him last March.

Neumann’s next move was reported by BBC News :

Mr Neumann told state TV he planned to stay in the Belarusian city of Brest.

“I have started a life here,” he said.

He added that he has plans “to move my family here,” but noted that the decision would ultimately be up to his wife.
