Two-time Essendon AFL (Australian Football League) premiership player Dean Wallis was rushed to the hospital in Bendigo after suffering a major heart attack.

The 52-year-old underwent emergency heart surgery following the heart attack.

The two-time premiership footballer played 127 games for the Bombers between 1987 and 2001 and was featured on the 1993 and 2000 flags.

Wallis was also an assistant coach at St Kilda, Essendon and Fremantle.
