The Biden administration is scrambling to address the global impact caused by Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine.
Of course, many on the left seem to believe that Joe Biden is only a victim of circumstance and didn’t contribute to the instability in the region.
A number of prominent conservatives, on the other hand, insist that such rhetoric doesn’t hold up to scrutiny.
Among the most vocal critics of the current administration is Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
During a recent interview, he insisted that it was Biden himself who paved the way for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military action in Ukraine.
Specifically, Cruz cited Biden’s moves shortly after entering office that served to embolden Putin.
Here’s a clip from the Newsmax TV segment:

It might come as no surprise that many other Republicans also blame Biden for setting the stage for the current global turmoil.
What is unexpected, however, is that some mainstream media outlets are now acknowledging that the crisis could have been avoided.
As Politico reported:
Biden’s appeals to Putin’s geopolitical ego didn’t work. Neither did threats of sanctions, words of condemnation, emotional appeals on human rights grounds, deployments of U.S. troops to NATO countries and weapons to Ukraine, or the relatively united front put forth by the United States and its allies. Even an unusual tactic employed by the Biden administration — publicizing significant amounts of intelligence about Putin’s plans — didn’t stop the dictator.
And actions that might have — maybe — changed Putin’s calculus, such as deploying U.S. troops to Ukraine itself, were not ones Biden would consider.
For Biden and his team, it is a deeply frustrating moment. Their strategy toward Russia has largely failed, despite their effort to adjust it over time to account for Putin’s stubborn moves. The Ukraine attack and the risk of a larger war in Europe also bodes ill for the administration’s ability to focus on other priorities going forward, in particular the challenge of a rising China.
Of course, this is not the first time Cruz has expressed opposition to the policies of the Biden administration.
The Texas Republican frequently shares his criticism on Twitter and in media appearances.

The senator has also shown his support for truckers who are opposed to the Biden administration’s mandates.
According to Fox News:
Sen. Ted Cruz showed up Thursday to the “People’s Convoy,” a U.S. extension of the Canadian “Freedom Convoy,” to voice support and join in on the protest.
Cruz, R-Texas, shared video and photos on social media showing him riding shotgun in a tractor-trailer and waving to fellow protesters. He went on to thank those who showed up and commended them on “standing up” for freedom.
“Thank you to every trucker who is standing up for freedom for every man, woman, and child in America!” he wrote.
In the following video clip, Cruz offers even more insight into his claim that Biden is complicit in the Russia-Ukraine mess.
Do you think Ted Cruz is right to blame Joe Biden?
