LA Sheriff is Stripped of Power After He Refuses to Enforce Vaccinations Upon His Staff

In this current day and age, doing the right thing is often looked upon as doing the wrong thing.

Case and point:

A Los Angeles sheriff has been stripped of his ability to enforce COVID vaccine mandates after refusing to force his staff to get vaccinated.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva was relieved of his enforcement powers last week, as voted on by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

For several months, Sheriff Villanueva has refused to enforce the vaccines due to concerns of losing too many staffers.

According to Villanueva, the board’s decision could result in the loss of more than 4,000 employees.

he also claims the board’s decision is purely political:

“This is nothing more than another politically motivated stunt by the Board, which has no bearing on public health, but will definitely harm public safety,” Villanueva said.

Insider has the latest on this travesty of justice:

Lawmakers in Los Angeles earlier this week voted to strip a sheriff who refused to mandate COVID-19 vaccines for his staff of his enforcement power.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors decided on Tuesday to relieve Sheriff Alex Villanueva of the responsibility to enforce COVID-19 vaccine mandates, according to board documents viewed by Insider. The Los Angeles Times first reported the story.

The decision to strip him of the responsibility comes after Villanueva has for months refused to enforce the mandate.

In October, Villanueva said he would not enforce the mandate because he feared losing a chunk of his staff.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva stated last October that he would not enforce vaccinations upon his staff:

He also warned of the mass exodus that would be caused by the mandates:

Fox News has Sheriff Villanueva’s reaction to the county board’s decision:

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva blasted the county’s board of supervisors on Twitter late Tuesday after they voted in favor of a motion that could result in the termination of more than 4,000 employees over their COVID-19 vaccine status.

Villanueva criticized the vote and pointed out that murders in the jurisdiction jumped 94%. He also pointed out that there has been a hiring freeze.

“This is nothing more than another politically motivated stunt by the Board, which has no bearing on public health, but will definitely harm public safety,” he said.
