These mandates should have been dropped 2 years ago, or better yet should have never occurred.
The latest reports indicate that blue states are moving to end Covid-19 mask mandates in what appears to be a concerted effort to end the fundamentally unsustainable policies.
Covid-19 is now endemic to humanity, just like the common cold and just like the flu…
We will beat this thing the same way we always have: by letting it run its course and allowing our natural immunity to build up significant defenses to the virus.
There have been few times in history where something more than natural immunity was needed to combat the maladies which plagued us—like the polio epidemic for example, but a virus with a 99.8% survival rate for most individuals?
I’ll let natural immunity handle that one, and while we’re at it that initial survival rate doesn’t even indicate a pandemic—it indicates that there are a few unlucky souls which are immunocompromised for whatever reason.
Resources would have been better spent investigating why these individuals had such adverse reactions to a simple virus, and those same resources could have been put to a much better use by actually helping those few individuals…
Instead we were sold the absurd fantasy that the U.S. government—the same government which cannot even keep drugs out of its maximum security prisons, could keep us safe from an invisible virus.
Blue states bought into this absurd narrative like it was an early limited release of a coveted consumer electronic during a holiday sale…
So why the sudden change in tune?
I’ll bet it has something to do with those primaries coming up soon…

Fox News had more on the sudden change in tune:
The governors of New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut and California have all ordered their school mask mandates dropped, either immediately or in the coming weeks.
New Jersey’s Phil Murphy has been particularly outspoken, saying “this is not a declaration of victory as much as an acknowledgment that we can responsibly live with this thing.” And New York Gov. Kathy Hochul lifted an indoor mask mandate, starting today.
Many conservatives, of course, have long viewed the mask mandates for students as an absurd overreaction that has taken a heavy toll.

Reuters highlights New York’s ending of mask mandates in most public places:
New York Governor Kathy Hochul willon Wednesday announce the end of her state’s mask mandate for most indoor public places, The New York Times reported, joining several states due to lift face-covering rules as the latest COVID-19 surge eases.
The Democratic governor intends to let the mask mandate, which has been challenged in court, expire rather than seeking to renew it
