You have to give it to Nancy Pelosi, she won’t go quietly.
Pelosi just announced that she will indeed run for reelection in this year’s midterms.
She previously announced that she would step down as the democrat House leader this year.
Pelosi did not say anything about her congressional seat at the time.
She released a video announcement on social media where she claimed that she is running “for the children.”
Critics have questioned her health at this stage in her career.
Pelosi will be 82 in March, having served in Congress since 1987.

CNN broke Pelosi’s announcement:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Tuesday that she plans to run for reelection, aiming to extend her more than 30-year run in Congress.
“I am running for reelection to Congress and respectfully seek your support,” Pelosi, a Democrat from California, said in a video message posted on her political Twitter account. “I would be greatly honored by it and grateful for it.”
Pelosi notably did not announce that she will run for speaker in her video announcement. She had promised in 2018 that this term would be her last in the position, but she has not confirmed if that is still her plan.

Here are more details on Pelosi’s future from the Washington Post:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Tuesday that she is running for reelection, citing the “crucial” need to defend American democracy through legislation on voting rights and other issues.
Pelosi, 81, has served in Congress since 1987.
“While we have made progress, much more needs to be done to improve people’s lives,” Pelosi said in a video posted to her Twitter feed. “Our democracy is at risk because of assaults on the truth, the assault on the U.S. Capitol, and the state-by-state assault on voting rights. This election is crucial. Nothing less is at stake than our democracy.”
Pelosi has been in congress since 1987!
Her opponent this year, republican John Dennis, had this to say following her announcement:
Nancy Pelosi seeks reelection to extend her destructive tenure in Congress.
Let's end her time in Washington, D.C.
