Midfielder Lucas Santana, from São Bento , had to leave the Baetão stadium, in São Bernardo do Campo, by ambulance after feeling sick on the field during the confrontation against EC São Bernardo, valid for the teams’ debut in the São Paulo Junior Football Cup.
In the 17th minute of the second half, the player collapsed on the field after apparently suffering a malaise. The match referee went to the player and requested medical attention. After the first calls, the ambulance entered the field to remove the player to an emergency care unit.
After undergoing head and spine exams, Lucas was released by doctors and is with the São Bento delegation. The player will have to stay 24 hours without doing any physical activity by medical recommendation.
With only one mobile ICU in the stadium, the game had to be paralyzed for 27 minutes until the arrival of a new medical team. São Bento, according to “Globo Esporte”, did not update the situation of its player.
