Robert E. Lee Statue To Be Melted Into African Art Project

I am saddened to report history is officially set to be erased.

Instead of moving the historical statue of Robert E. Lee somewhere else to try to maintain some resemblance of history, the city council of Charlottesville, Virginia has decided to donate it to the African American Heritage center.

They voted unanimously in favor for this donation.

Not a single person had the backbone to preserve history.

And guess what the African American Heritage Center plans to do with it?

They plan to melt the statue down and turn into a piece of “public art.”

The Charlottesville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday morning to hand ownership of the statue over to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, which runs a local museum to “highlight Charlottesville’s African American history and culture of the African diaspora.”

The museum’s bid called for the statue to be melted and reformed into art in what it called its “Swords Into Plowshares” project.

“Our hope with ‘Swords Into Plowshares’ is to create something that transforms what was once toxic in our public space into something beautiful and more reflective of our entire community,” Dr. Andrea Douglas, executive director of the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, said.

Yes, let’s remove history to preserve peoples feelings because that makes a ton of sense…

The tearing down of the statue comes as a result of the events that took place at the infamous “Unite the Right” rally.

That took place August 2017, after the Charlottesville council voted to remove the statue in response to a 2016 petition from a local high school student.

As you all know, things went sideways rather quickly during that rally.

I’m sure the violence didn’t help the legitimacy of the “Unite the Right” side in defending the statues location.

Which is exactly what the leftist Antifa counterprotestors wanted.

They wanted to incite violence, to tear down everything the “Unite the Right” protestors stood for.

Now, years later, history is literally getting destroyed and melted into nothing.

Excuse me, melted into “Art.”

But we won’t get into who was REALLY at fault for the chaos at the rally.

This is absolutely disgraceful.

As if it defacing the statue wasn’t enough, they had to get rid of it, melt it into something completely different.

All for the sake of political correctness.
