Governor DeSantis Recommends Reestablishing Florida State Guard; Deranged Leftist Media Call Him a Dictator Preparing for Civil War

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his recommendation to reestablish the Florida State Guard, which is an inactive state defense force that operated during WWII.

The FSG served as a stateside replacement for the Florida National Guard during their deployment abroad.

The state of Florida funded the FSG, so they weren’t bound by federal red tape and were available upon request of the governor.

Although the FSG was disbanded, Florida law allows the governor to maintain a Florida state defense force.

The Biden Administration has directly threatened the state of Florida’s ability to respond to civil emergencies due to the National Guard COVID-19 jab mandate.

As witnessed in Oklahoma, the federal government’s actions threaten to push active National Guard members from service:

In light of federal government overreach, Governor DeSantis took the proactive step to recommend reestablishing the FSG.

That allows the Florida governor to have a state defense force under his command to ensure a speedy response to hurricanes or other disasters.

The civilian volunteer force will have the ability to assist the National Guard in state-specific emergencies.

Watch the announcement below:

Notice where Governor DeSantis points out that other states utilize these capabilities to respond to state-specific emergencies.

The hysterical mainstream media conveniently ignored this fact and used the announcement to accuse DeSantis of preparing for civil war.

Unsurprisingly, CNN ran the ridiculous headline titled “DeSantis Proposes a New Civilian Military Force in Florida That He Would Control.”

CNN successfully propagandized division and hatred over a simple announcement to better prepare the state for disaster relief.

From CNN:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to reestablish a World War II-era civilian military force that he, not the Pentagon, would control.

DeSantis pitched the idea Thursday as a way to further support the Florida National Guard during emergencies, like hurricanes. The Florida National Guard has also played a vital role during the pandemic in administering Covid-19 tests and distributing vaccines.
But in a nod to the growing tension between Republican states and the Biden administration over the National Guard, DeSantis also said this unit, called the Florida State Guard, would be “not encumbered by the federal government.” He said this force would give him “the flexibility and the ability needed to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible.” DeSantis is proposing bringing it back with a volunteer force of 200 civilians, and he is seeking $3.5 million from the state legislature in startup costs to train and equip them.

Leftist pundits compared the reestablishment of the defunct WWII-era defense force to Nazi gestapo or a personal secret police.

Let’s bring the leftist media back down to reality.

First off, other states, including California and New York, have active state defenses.

Are liberal utopias preparing for civil war too?

CNN buried that fact deep in their article:

If Florida moves ahead with DeSantis’ plan to reestablish the civilian force, it would become the 23rd active state guard in the country, DeSantis’ office said in a press release, joining California, Texas and New York.

In reality, the reestablishment of the FSG helps the state of Florida bypass the federal government to respond to emergencies.

Since Biden is too busy enacting COVID-19 jab mandates, Governor DeSantis is taking the initiative to protect Floridians.

As The Epoch Times noted:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Dec. 2 that he will be reinstating the Florida State Guard and will be seeking $3.5 million in the budget to do it.

The state guard was formed in 1941 and filled in for the Florida National Guard troops when they were deployed during World War II.

In the late 1940s, the unit was disbanded.

The governor said he wanted “to make sure we have the flexibility—and the ability needed—to respond to events in our state in the most effective way possible.”

He added that will require Florida to have access to, and use of, support in ways that don’t require the federal government.

The state guard would answer to the governor with no federal deployment, or missions, and would receive no federal dollars.
