The coming red wave has many democrats scared.
Several members of the party have already announced retirement due to fear of the mid-term elections next year.
Dems are right to be afraid, as they have abused their power for far too long.
The GOP already has at least four democrats in their sights come 2022 that they will likely remove from their current committee assignments if the House flips back to republicans.
According to the Hill: Maxine Waters, Ilhan Omar, Eric Swalwell, and Adam Schiff are all likely to be removed from their committee assignments.
Here's more on what republicans might do in 2022 from the Hill, who put their own liberal spin on the story:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has threatened to retaliate after Democrats stripped GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.) of committee seats this Congress, warning that some liberal lawmakers “will need the approval of a majority to keep those positions in the future.”
None of the Democrats singled out by McCarthy as examples of who could be removed from House committees have embraced conspiracy theories or promoted violence against their political opponents the way Greene and Gosar have.
But that’s not stopping Republicans from warning of a scorched-earth environment if they win back the House, as many poll watchers expect.
McCarthy has also pledged to restore Gosar's and Greene’s committee assignments.
Democrats maintain that they’ve only adhered to a precedent of taking punitive action against lawmakers who promoted political violence in the absence of a formal rebuke from GOP leaders.
Here's a more based view of the situation from BPR:
“None of the Democrats singled out by McCarthy as examples of who could be removed from House committees have embraced conspiracy theories or promoted violence against their political opponents the way Greene and Gosar have,” The Hill reported.
But that is false; the four Democrats being singled out are Reps. Maxine Waters, Eric Swalwell, and Adam Schiff, all of California, as well as Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, and each of them have committed similar or worse infractions.
Waters, for example, frequently advocates violence against political opponents. In 2018, she told a crowd of supporters to confront members of then-President Donald Trump’s Cabinet if they saw them in public.
“If you see anybody from [Trump’s] Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd, and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome,” she said, without reprisal from the then-GOP majority. A year earlier, she told another crowd she would “go and take out Trump tonight.”
So why these four dems?
Well, here are a few reminders.
Ilhan Omar has a history of posting (then deleting) anti-semitic tweets and making anti-semitic comments:
Maxine Waters called for violence against Trump Administration officials:
Eric Swalwell has been accused of sleeping with a Chinese spy, which Lauren Boebert recently called him out for:
Finally, that leaves Adam Schiff, who aggressively pursued and promoted the lie of Trump/Russia collusion:
