You probably woudn’t know this if you were watching fake news networks like CNN or MSNBC, but a badass, gun-toting, former Marine just became the first black female lieutenant governor in Virginia’s history.
Republican Winsome Sears defeated Democrat Hala Ayala Tuesday night to become the first black woman to be elected statewide in state history.
Sears also delivered a victory speech worthy of her own reputation, where she proclaimed that she would die for America:
“When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me, I was willing, willing, to die for this country.”
The crowd went crazy for Sears as she said, “I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream.”
While this moment would seemingly be an opportune time for everyone to celebrate just what it means historically, the left-wing media machine has largely ignored Sears’ victory.
The Daily Wire broke the news of Winstome Sears' historic victory:
Virginia Lt. Governor-elect Winsome Sears, a Republican, praised the opportunities afforded to her by the U.S. when she came to the country at just six years old as an immigrant from Jamaica, saying that she was living “the American dream.”
Sears, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, won her election on Tuesday evening to become the first black woman elected to a statewide office in Virginia.
“I am at a loss for words for the first time in my life,” Sears said. ” So, I’m here because of you. I’m here because you voted for me, I’m here because you put your trust in me. That’s the only reason I’m here. Thank you.”
Lieutenant Governor Sears Delivered a Fiery Victory Speech
Our friends at the New York Post have more on Sears' victory speech, including calls for racial unity and a renewed focus on education:
“What we are going to do now is be about the business of the Commonwealth,” she continued. “We have things to tend to. We are going to fully fund our historically Black colleges and universities. We’re going to have safer neighborhoods, safer communities, and our children are going to get a good education.”
Sears noted her history-making achievement to make a plea for racial unity.
“There are some who want to divide, but we must not let that happen,” she said. “We have had a black president elected not once but twice and here I am, living proof.”
She also talked about the need for education, an issue Republican Glenn Youngkin rode to his stunning win over Democrat Terry McAuliffe in Tuesday’s Virginia governor’s race.
“Education will lift us all out of poverty because we must have marketable skills so that our children can not just survive, but they want to create generational wealth. That’s what this is about,” she said.
What's most telling about this historic moment, is that the mainstream liberal media is completely ignoring that fact that Sears is the first black woman to ever take the lieutenant governor's office.
Fake News network MSNBC did everything they could to ignore Winsome Sears' epic victory:
