Durham Investigation Sets Sights On Former FBI General Counsel James Baker

If it’s one thing we have learned this week it is this: Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation is far from over. In fact it’s just getting started.

Fox News confirmed earlier today that Durham’s team will now seek to subpoena former FBI General Counsel James Baker. Durham is focused on Baker’s 2016 meeting with Perkins Coie attorney Michael Sussman.

Sussman was indicted last month.

This Washington Times article from last month provides some insight into why Durham is focused on Baker:

Baker testified in 2018 that Sussman, a former DOJ colleague, shared the Alfa Bank claims with him during a September 2016 meeting. Notes from DOJ official Bruce Ohr’s December 2016 meeting with Glenn Simpson show the Fusion GPS co-founder said the New York Times was wrong to doubt the story that Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization were communicating through secret servers.

Durham said Sussmann provided Baker with two thumb drives and hard copies of white papers — including one he co-authored, although his name wasn’t on it — along with “eight files containing the Russian Bank Data.”

Immediately after the meeting, Durham said Baker spoke with Bill Priestap, the assistant director of the FBI’s counterintelligence division.

Priestap “took contemporaneous notes” about the Sussmann meeting, including that Sussmann had been “approached by Prominent Cyber People” and had “said not doing this for any client,” according to the indictment. Durham said Sussmann “billed” the FBI meeting to the Clinton campaign with the description of “work and communications regarding confidential project.”

Hilariously, Sussman has pleaded not guilty and maintains this is all political.

But what do you expect?

When you (not so) secretly work for the DNC and your boss tells you to do something you do it. You follow orders. Or else something bad may happen to you. You even plead not guilty when anyone with a pulse knows you are lying through your teeth. These are things Michael Sussman just has to do and I think we all have a pretty good idea what the consequences would be otherwise.

His former client certainly seemed to think the meeting with James Baker was necessary:

The media will tell you Durham’s Investigation is done for and over. They will call it a “nothing burger”.

But keep letting them.

Because as this story begins to unravel you are going to want a front row seat to the utter meltdown Democrats and Progressives are due for. Durham has always been meticulous and tough as a prosecutor and this time will be no different.

In fact, Biden’s weak-kneed lackey for woke law enforcement, Merrick Garland, told us earlier this week that Durham wasn’t going anywhere:

Now why would he do that? More importantly, why would he say that out loud?

That’s precisely what a bunch of very scared people want to know. And believe me…they are scared.

Stay tuned. This snowball has only just begun starting to roll.
