The formerly funny late night comedy show Saturday Night Live apparently had a bit of a revelation over the weekend.
Maybe the writers are just a little bit slow on the uptake, or maybe the spiralling ratings finally gave way to desperation.
Whatever the case, SNL mocked Joe Biden pretty badly Saturday night.
They went after his bad polling numbers, as well as his mental decline since his days as vice president under Barack Obama.
It is truly about time SNL caught up with how bad a job Biden has done this year, but the timing stinks.
SNL hit a new ratings low just a week ago.
SNL came out of the gates firing at Biden.
Fox News has more on the cold opener:
The sketch showed Biden (played by new "SNL" cast member James Austin Johnson) struggling with bad poll numbers, Democratic infighting and criticism over his policies.
"Things are going to turn around though?" Biden pressed White House press secretary Jen Psaki (Chloe Fineman) after she told him his "CNN town hall was watched by no one and your approval rating is in the dumpster.
"I’m bad at lying so I’m going to leave," she said before exiting.
Johnson’s Biden then began to reminisce about his carefree pre-Oval Office days.
"I don’t understand," he said. "People used to like me. The press would call me Uncle Joe. I miss the old me. Where the hell did that guy go?"
Suddenly, guest host Jason Sudeikis, as Obama-era Vice President Biden, appeared before him.
Joe Biden (played by James Austin Johnson) reminisces of when the press liked him.
Joe Biden met his "past self" as formerly played by Jason Sudeikis
SNL also mocked Biden's low approval numbers following his disastrous Town Hall for CNN last week:
The timing of SNL's sudden decision to mock Biden comes as they hit a new record ratings low just last week.
Breitbart has more on the failing ratings for the former late night comedy giant:
NBC’s Saturday Night Live has reportedly experienced another ratings disaster, with this weekend’s episode featuring host Rami Malek and musical guest Young Thug hitting a new low.
Deadline reported the episode drew a 3.4 household Live + Same Day rating in the 44 metered local markets, down from last week’s show, which was hosted by Kim Kardashian West, which had a 3.8 rating.
It will be interesting to see how SNL plays out over the next few weeks in their treatment of Biden.
For four years they brutally mocked President Donald Trump, after previously having a good relationship with him.
Regardless, if SNL is taking shots at Biden, you know things are bad...
