It what is becoming an unfortunate act of habit, Joe Biden has once again disgraced himself, his country, and the military men and women who defend it.
During the “diginified transfer” for the 13 US troops who were killed in the terror attack near Kabul airport, Biden seemed to have other priorities, as he could be seen checking his watch during the solemn ceremony.
Biden glanced down at his watch momentarily, before placing his hands behind his back.
Veterans, as well as many conservative commentators, were quick to call out the blatant act of disrespect.
Biden has come under more heavy criticism following the disrespectful gesture.
More on that criticism from the New York Post:
President Joe Biden has come under fire for apparently glancing at his watch during a solemn ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for the 13 US troops killed in the terror attack near the Kabul airport.
Biden and first lady Jill Biden were at the airport for a “dignified transfer” movement, a somber military ritual of receiving the bodies of fallen service members who died in foreign combat.
During the event, he placed his right hand to his chest as the flag-draped coffins were carried off the Air Force C-17 Globemaster plane.
But at one point, the commander-in-chief appeared to cast a furtive glance at his watch before putting his arms behind his back, prompting criticisms from veterans, Republican politicians and conservative commentators.
“Looks like he was being inconvenienced by having to show some respect for these American Heros [sic],” Samuel Williams, a disabled US Army veteran, said on Twitter.
“It’s true. Joe Biden checked his watch during the dignified transfer of the servicemembers killing in Afghanistan at the airport,” columnist Nicholas Fondacaro wrote.
“You can see him jerk his left hand to pull the watch out from under his sleeve, then look down at it,” he added.
The Daily Wire has more on reaction to this aberrant act from Joe Biden:
Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX) responded, “Apparently our Commander-in-Chief has better things to do than honor the 13 service members who died on his watch? I’m DISGUSTED! God bless these heroes and their loved ones. They deserved better.”
“Joe Biden checking his watch during the dignified transfer of American Heroes killed by his incompetence,” Boris Epshteyn, a former Trump aide, tweeted. “Despicable. Resign now.”
Retired Army Veteran Samuel Williams tweeted, “Looks like he was being inconvenienced by having to show some respect for these American Heros.”
“There is nothing more important than paying your respects to America’s fallen war heroes, Mr. President,” Nile Gardiner, a former aide to former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, tweeted.
“Looks someone is anxious to go back on vacation,” reporter Ian Miles Cheong tweeted.
Once again, comparisons to President Donald Trump do no favors to Joe Biden.
