Pentagon Requires Covid-19 Vaccine For ALL Military Members

It’s starting to happen folks.

The Pentagon has officially laid out a plan that will require all military members to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Pentagon officials the plan has already been endorsed by Biden and memos are being sent out to all military members regarding being vaccinated.

Top Pentagon officials explained in the memo that being vaccinated is a “necessary step to maintain military readiness”.

Many believe the forced mandate on military members will be a precursor for a mandate that requires all U.S. citizens to be vaccinated.

The Associated Press had more on the story:

Members of the U.S. military will be required to get the COVID-19 vaccine beginning next month under a plan laid out by the Pentagon Monday and endorsed by President Joe Biden. In memos distributed to all troops, top Pentagon leaders said the vaccine is a necessary step to maintain military readiness.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the mid-September deadline could be accelerated if the vaccine receives final FDA approval or infection rates continue to rise.

“I will seek the president’s approval to make the vaccines mandatory no later than mid-September, or immediately upon” licensure by the Food and Drug Administration “whichever comes first,” Austin said in his memo, warning them to prepare for the requirement.

The Pentagon plan provides time for the FDA to give final approval to the Pfizer vaccine, which is expected early next month. Without that formal approval, Austin needs a waiver from Biden to make the shots mandatory, and Biden has already made clear he supports it.

Fox News covered the story too:

The Pentagon is requiring members of the U.S. military to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

All military troops will have until Sept. 15 to get vaccinated, according to a memo sent by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to all Department of Defense employees. It could be even sooner depending on developments regarding vaccine approval or the spread of COVID-19.

“I will seek the president’s approval to make the vaccines mandatory no later than mid-September, or immediately upon [FDA approval] whichever comes first,” Austin said in the memo, which went out to troops on Monday.

“I will not hesitate to act sooner or recommend a different course to the President if l feel the need to do so,” Austin added. “To defend this Nation, we need a healthy and ready force.”
