Run Herschel, Run!

Herschel Walker was known for running the football down the field for the University of Georgia and the Dallas Cowboys, but President Trump’s latest statement declared Herschel has decided to run for office.

Trump made the announcement during a recent interview and went on record saying  he had dinner with Herschel a couple of weeks ago and Herschel told him he was going to run for Georgia’s Senate.

If Herschel did run he would have a major chance to dethrone Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in the 2022 primaries.

Walker is a living legend in the state of Georgia considering in 1981 he won the Heisman trophy and led the Georgia Bulldogs to a National Championship win.

The Western Journal covered Trump’s statement:

President Donald Trump said former National Football League legend Herschel Walker told him he will run for the U.S. Senate in Georgia in 2022.

The announcement took place during an interview on the “Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show” on Tuesday evening.

“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” Trump said, according to the Daily Caller. “I had dinner with him a week ago. He’s a great guy. He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person. They love him in Georgia.”

“He was the greatest running back in the history of the state,” Trump added. “He is one of the best in the history of the country.”

When asked how Walker would do running for Senate, Trump said, “I think he’d win. I think it would be very, very hard to beat Herschel. Beating him would be very tough. And I think he’s going to run.”

If Walker announces a run, he’ll serve as a potential Republican candidate against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in 2022.

Former football star Herschel Walker will run for the U.S. Senate seat in Georgia next year — at least according to one high-ranking Republican.

President Donald Trump said in an interview Tuesday that the former University of Georgia Heisman Trophy winner will challenge Sen. Raphael Warnock in the 2022 race.

“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” Mr. Trump said Tuesday on the Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show. “I had dinner with him a week ago. He’s a great guy. He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person.”

Mr. Trump once was Mr. Walker’s boss — he owned the USFL’s New Jersey’s Generals and signed the star back as one of the league’s marquee players — and he has publicly encouraged him to make the political run.

Mr. Walker has been more circumspect, saying in numerous interviews over the last few months only that he’s considering running and will decide “soon.”
