It’s Pride Month and the flag is everywhere.
Including at the US embassy to the Vatican.
Because clearly, religious rights are no contest before the agenda of the Left and their demands on our conscience.
According to The Blaze:
An LBGTQ rainbow flag is flying at the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See for the month of June, which is Pride Month.
“The United States respects the dignity and equality of LGBTQI+ people,” the embassy said on its Instagram page regarding the display of the rainbow flag. “LGBTQI+ rights are human rights.”
An embassy statement to EWTN News Nightly says in part, “The United States will lead by the power of our example and pursue policy to end violence and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex characteristics.”
EWTN reported that in previous years the rainbow flag was not flown for Pride Month at the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See but was flown at the U.S. Embassy to Italy. The outlet said the Vatican had no comment.
The Catholic church considers homosexuality a sin.
According to The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops:
“The Church seeks to enable every person to live out the universal call to holiness. Persons with a homosexual inclination ought to receive every aid and encouragement to embrace this call personally and fully. This will unavoidably involve much struggle and self-mastery, for following Jesus always means following the way of the Cross…The Sacraments of the Eucharist and of Penance are essential sources of consolation and aid on this path.”
– USCCB, Ministry to Persons with a Homosexual Inclination (2006), p. 13
Predictably the backlash on Twitter was strong:
The Holy See needs to grow a spine! It ought to admonish the US Embassy and/or suspend diplomatic relations with the Biden Administration over its flying of the Gay Pride Flag. Such a middle finger to the Vatican & faithful Catholics who oppose unnatural, ungodly Gender Ideology!

American embassy to the Vatican flies the gay pride flag. No flag but the Stars and Stripes should be on the mast, regardless of the party in power. As they did in 1861, the Democrats set themselves up as arbitrers while they rebel. https://t.co/VnIoanx8Jy

As a Catholic, I’m curious to know if the Biden-Harris Embassy in the Holy See will promote respect for Catholic teaching on family and freedom of conscience – or whether we can simply expect more political stunts like this. https://t.co/SEIM2LO6OM

Some conservatives are pushing back on the use of flags such as the BLM and gay pride flag at US embassies.
According to The Washington Times:
Several conservative members of Congress have signed onto a bill that would bar the flying of gay pride and Black Lives Matter flags at U.S. embassies.
The “Only Old Glory Act,” sponsored by Rep. Jeff Duncan, South Carolina Republican, would bar any standard besides the American flag from flying at diplomatic posts abroad.
Mr. Duncan’s office told Forbes that the bill responds to both a U.S. embassy in South America flying a “rainbow” pride flag and to Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s granting permission in May to fly Black Lives Matter flags at America’s foreign outposts. On Tuesday, the U.S. Embassy to the Vatican also began displaying a rainbow flag, in what was widely seen as a trolling gesture at the Catholic Church.
“No other flag or symbol can portray our American values” better than the Stars and Stripes, Mr. Duncan said in a statement.
This week Republican Reps. Louie Gohmert of Texas, Rick Crawford of Arkansas and Brian Mast of Florida brought the list of co-sponsors to 20.
Not nearly enough to get the bill passed or even seriously considered.
Until people of faith start making their voices heard by the representatives and at the ballot box we will continue to lose the culture war to the radical Left and their anti-God agenda.
