You might have thought the title was clickbait. There is no way an elected official in the United States would knowingly exclude someone based on the color of their skin.
I’m sorry to say that this is not clickbait, and this is not a joke.
Mayor of Chicago Lori Lightfoot has decided that she will only grant interviews to journalists that are either brown or black.
Notice a particular skin pigmentation that is missing from that list?

Fox News has more on this:
Reporters out of Chicago are alleging that Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot is now granting interviews only to journalists of color.
NBC 5 Chicago political reporter Mary Ann Ahern took to Twitter on Tuesday to mark the “midway point” of Lightfoot’s first term in office and apparently acknowledged her failed effort to land an interview.
“As @chicagosmayor reaches her two year midway point as mayor, her spokeswoman says Lightfoot is granting 1 on 1 interviews – only to Black or Brown journalists,” Ahern tweeted.
This isn’t an isolated incident from a disgruntled journalist that just didn’t get enough facetime. It has been corroborated by other writers as well.
I was told the same thing.

Refusing white journalists’ access is not a good look for the mayor of one of the most progressive cities in America.
But that’s the funny thing about liberals. They only care about fairness and equality when it suits them. Additionally, their only answer to combat inequality is by creating more inequality. Lightfoot herself spoke to this in a written statement.
“It’s a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American,” Lightfoot wrote on Wednesday. “Diversity and inclusion is imperative across all institutions including media. In order to progress we must change.”
She continued, “This is exactly why I’m being intentional about prioritizing media requests from POC reporters on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as mayor of this great city. This is an imbalance that needs to change. Chicago is a world-class city. Our local media should reflect the multiple cultures that comprise it… It’s time for the newsrooms to do better and build teams that reflect the make-up of our city.”
Twitter users rightly pointed out the unfairness and dangerous road Mayor Lightfoot is treading into.
Thats a nice term for racism

Just tell them you identify as black or brown…that should work…

It would be too easy to point out the double standard on display here. Conservatives know all about it because we see it all around us.
Hopefully, it is only a matter of time before natives of Chicago realize the hurtful and downright dangerous leadership Lightfoot is demonstrating and vote for change.
Based on how liberal cities have acted in the past, it is encouraged not to hold your breath.
