Want proof that this whole mask mandate thing has nothing to do with public health and everything to do with control?
Nancy Pelosi just proved it.
Despite the fact that the CDC is now telling people that masks are no longer necessary for the vaccinated, Pelosi is still requiring all House members to wear masks.
All that talk about “following the science” was a lie.
Most of us already knew that, but here is Pelosi proving it to everyone else.
House republicans have responded to Pelosi’s obvious power grab by sending a letter calling for an end to masking on the House floor.
MSN has more on Pelosi's latest power grab:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday that she would continue requiring masks to be worn on the House floor, despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new guidance.
The CDC said earlier in the day that fully vaccinated people can stop wearing masks in almost all settings, including indoors, marking a significant departure from previous guidance. The new recommendations also said vaccinated people no longer need to keep physically distant. However, people who are not fully vaccinated are advised to continue wearing masks.
When asked by CNN's Manu Raju whether she would drop the House rule in light of the news, Pelosi gave a decisive "no," asking, "are they all vaccinated?" A spokesperson for Pelosi confirmed to Bloomberg that the mask mandate would remain because it's not known how many lawmakers and their staff are vaccinated.
Pelosi instituted a mask mandate in the chamber in July, after some Republican members refused to wear one. The Senate does not have a mask requirement.
More than 30 House Republicans, led by Rep. Bob Gibbs of Ohio, urged Pelosi in a letter to return to normal voting procedures in the chamber and to drop the mask requirement in response to the CDC update.
Here's the Daily Caller with republican reaction:
A group of over thirty House Republicans sent a letter Thursday to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calling on her to return the House to normalcy and asked her to abide by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines released earlier in the day.
The letter, which was first obtained by the Daily Caller, was spearheaded by Republican Ohio Rep. Bob Gibbs, signed by 33 other Republicans and called on Pelosi to return the House to normal in-person voting procedures and end mandatory mask requirements in the House. The CDC released guidelines Thursday afternoon that said masks are no longer required to be worn inside by fully vaccinated people in “most” situations.
“Speaker Pelosi, In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance released on May 13, 2021 we urge you to immediately return to normal voting procedures and end mandatory mask requirements in the House of Representatives,” Gibbs said in the letter.
“CDC guidance states fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting except where required by governmental or workplace mandate. It is time to update our own workplace regulations. Every member of Congress has had the opportunity to be vaccinated, and you have indicated about 75 percent have taken advantage of this opportunity,” he added.
“The United States Congress must serve as a model to show the country we can resume normal life through vaccination. Let’s follow the science and get back to work,” Gibbs’ letter concluded.
Rep. Mace Calls Out Pelosi's Power Grab
Nancy Pelosi is a power hungry politician who loves the control that comes with her position.
She's proven that again and again.
As long as she's in power, she'll continue to allow that power to go to her head.
