We got an early look on how the results of the 2022 primaries will turn out.
Just two days after the Republican House voted to oust Liz Cheney from her conference chair the House made a vote again but this time for her replacement.
In a 134-46 vote Rep. Elise Stefanik from New York defeated Rep. Chip Roy of Texas for the Republican Conference Chair position.
Rep. Stefanik win doesn’t come as a big surprise being she had President Trump’s backing.

The Hill covered Stefanik’s huge win and shared these details:
House Republicans on Friday elevated Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) to replace Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as the party’s conference chair, capping a tumultuous three-week stretch that exposed the deep divisions in a conference beholden to former President Trump.
Stefanik, who was backed by Trump and top House GOP leaders, easily defeated Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus who launched a last-minute challenge over concerns Stefanik’s voting record is too liberal. The vote was 134-46.
Three other Republicans, Reps. Jim Jordan (Ohio), Virginia Foxx (N.C.) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (Wash.), each received a single vote. Nine lawmakers voted present.
Heading into the vote, Stefanik brushed aside those criticisms, pledging that she’d fight to keep Republicans as one voice heading into the 2022 midterm elections, where they like their odds of flipping control of the House.
“We are unified at making sure that we win the majority and that we focus on the damage that the Biden-Pelosi agenda is doing across America,” Stefanik told reporters Thursday night after making her pitch to GOP colleagues.
After her big win Stefanik released this victory tweet:

Fox News covered the story too:
The House Republican Conference on Friday morning voted to elect Rep. Elise Stefanik as its chairwoman, sealing the New York lawmaker’s ascent two days after the group ousted Rep. Liz Cheney amid strong tension over the party’s future.
Stefanik said she’s “truly honored and humbled” to earn the support of her Republican colleagues, and vowed to “save our country” from the “radical Democrat Socialist agenda,” Fox News is told.
“I know we are all here to serve the people, the voters who place their trust and faith in us. You have put yours in me to serve this Conference and I will never lose sight of that. I will always work my very hardest to earn your trust every day,” Stefanik went on to say.
She added: “This will not be an easy job, but I know we are stronger when united as a team.”
Stefanik’s appointment as House Republican Conference chair came just days after House Republicans voted to remove Cheney, R-Wyo., from leadership.
Rep. Stefanik’s win goes to show an endorsement from Trump can make a big difference.
Just ask Liz Cheney!
