According to Fauci Masks May Be Here to Stay

First, it was masks aren’t necessary. Then, it was wear your mask and 14 days to stop the spread. Not long after that, Fauci went all the way down the rabbit hole claiming that two masks are better than one.

All of this took place as Fauci presented no actual scientific data to prove the efficacy of mask wearing.

Nonetheless, people across the country looked to and continue to look to this individual as the be-all-end-all when it comes to COVID pandemic advice.

Now it appears Dr. Fauci has completely lost his mind as he is pushing the alleged possibility that mask-wearing could become a permanent thing.

According to the Western Journal:

Fauci made the remarks Sunday on “Meet the Press,” after host Chuck Todd asked: “At what point can we stop wearing masks outside? At what point if vaccinated people get together, do you take the masks off? … Is the mask going to be something we have with us in a seasonal aspect?”

Fauci said Americans might want to wear masks forever since doing so could potentially mitigate the seasonal flu. For the record, never leaving your house could potentially reduce your chances of getting hit by a car, but no one would consider that a useful health tip.

“I think people have gotten used to the fact that wearing masks — clearly if you look at the data — diminishes respiratory diseases,” he said. “We’ve had practically a non-existent flu season this year, merely because people were doing the kinds of public health things that were directed predominantly against COVID-19.”

The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases continued: “The Australians during their winter, same thing, they had almost no flu largely due to the kinds of things including mask-wearing.

“So it is conceivable that as we go on a year or two or more from now — that during certain seasonal periods when you have respiratory-borne viruses like the flu — people might actually elect to wear masks to diminish the likelihood that you’ll spread these respiratory-borne diseases.”

See Fauci’s remarks for yourself during this interview last Sunday morning on Meet the Press.

While mask-wearing may in fact be beneficial in some limited circumstances, it is clearly not a practical solution to keep people from becoming sick. In fact, many would argue that we need to come in contact with some germs to help build and sustain our immune systems.

Mask wearing has some very real concerns especially when it’s children that are required to wear them.

The Telegraph chronicles just how bad mask-wearing can be for children:

Against this, the accumulating evidence of the potentially considerable risk face coverings pose to children is significant. There are now pages of studies and reports detailing suspected and in some cases proven harms to both their mental and physical health. A letter written last September by 70 doctors in Belgium calls masks a “major threat” to children’s development; one here from December signed by a group of 100 health professionals including psychologists, academics and paediatricians says that masks for children are “not only unnecessary but potentially harmful”. This measure also goes against previous DfE advice which was until recently directive on the point that schools should not mandate masks in classrooms due to concerns about misuse and negative effects.

Whilst I have no issue with proportionate and non-damaging interventions, we simply do not know of the long-term effects of face coverings worn for this duration on brain development, educational attainment, communication and indeed all other aspects of children’s physical and mental health; in fact we do know that face coverings worn for this duration have clear negative implications on children’s mental health at a time when that has never been more fragile; and even more fundamentally are a measure which potentially restricts children’s intake of oxygen for prolonged periods of time. Whatever the pressures from vested interests that led to this decision to introduce this measure without reference to those harms seems recklessly indifferent to the health and welfare of children. We had been told that the point of vaccinations was that we could begin to subtract, not add, further measures. Yet now in our schools we have an array of measures none of which looks proportionate given the relative small risk to children and the speed of the vaccine roll-out: bubbles, social distancing, obsessive testing… and now this.

From where I’m sitting this looks more like a one way road to hell than one to freedom.

We’ve gone from no masks to two masks, to masks that may need to be worn forever. We watch as young children struggle to deal with being told they need to wear masks for hours on end just to attend school.

One can’t help but feel enough is enough already and it’s time for people to stand up to the nonsensical and often times unscientific mask mandates.
