I’ll start off by saying this is NOT about the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict.
But to discuss the hypocrisy of western mainstream media outlets.
In this case, the BBC.
An interview with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev surfaced from last November and is now trending online.
Part of his interview with a BBC journalist was previously censored due to the conversation moving to imprisoned journalist Julian Assange.
Aliyev lectured the journalist commenting that western media has no right to accuse them of censoring freedom of speech or freedom of the press.
And the BBC journalist looks completely shaken and immediately tries to redirect the interview.
Here’s the section referencing Assange:

As predicted, the jailing is now used as a precedent.
BBC told: “In view of its treatment of Assange, the UK had no right to reproach other nations over human rights or press freedom” – when asking Azerbaijani President about press freedom in his country. https://t.co/16dZHgbhWB— Peter Cronau (@PeterCronau) May 4, 2021

Here’s the entire interview:
With the continued imprisonment of Assange, the hypocritical mainstream press can’t lecture anyone about human rights abuses or civil liberties.
