This is pathetic.

Users on Twitter recently noticed the U.S. Navy’s Twitter account changed its profile picture to a bald eagle wearing a surgical mask.

Many people on Twitter quickly criticized the Navy’s decision to put a mask on the bald eagle and stated that China is laughing at us.

Take a look at the profile picture yourself:

Even after receiving backlash the Navy still has the profile picture up.

Breitbart News had more details to add to the story:

Twitter users criticized the United States Navy after noticing that the service’s official Twitter account featured its logo with a bald eagle wearing a blue surgical mask.

Newsmax TV host John Cardillo tweeted: “The eagle in the @USNavy’s logo is wearing a mask. China, Iran, and Russia are pissing their pants laughing at us.”

The twitter account is the service’s official headquarters account.

The masked eagle logo — seen as virtue signaling by critics — comes amid a growing culture war between conservatives and progressives that risks entangling the military.

Many users on Twitter weren’t happy about the bald eagle wearing a mask:

The U.S. Navy’s Twitter handler should leave the bald eagle alone.

The bald eagle represents the strength and freedom of America and when you add a mask to the bald eagle it looks like it’s no longer free.
