New York Governor Andrew Cuomo appears to be sinking fast.
His position as the media’s darling may be coming to an end.
Cuomo is officially now under investigation by the FBI, as well as the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, for his task force’s mishandling of the Covid-19 nursing home data.
The probe is apparently in its early stages and focusing on the work done by senior members of Cuomo’s task force.
Cuomo has already found himself on the recieving end for allegations of a cover up from both republicans and democrats for hiding the nursing home data.
The walls of justice now also appear to be closing in on the NY governor.
Here is more on the FBI's investigation from the Daily Wire:
New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo is under investigation by the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, as well as the FBI, for his administration’s decision to send recovering coronavirus patients into nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, local New York media reported Wednesday night.
According to the Albany Times-Union, the U.S. Attorney’s investigation is in its “early stages” but is focusing on Cuomo’s controversial nursing home policy, which may have resulted in thousands of deaths, many more than the Cuomo administration originally reported.
“The probe by the U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York is apparently in its early stages and is focusing on the work of some of the senior members of the governor’s task force, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who is not authorized to comment publicly,” the Times-United noted.
“Last March, as the virus began spreading in New York, Cuomo issued a news release listing the 13 initial members of his coronavirus task force, which has been headed by Linda Lacewell, an attorney and former chief of staff for Cuomo,” the outlet reported. “Lacewell is the superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services. Other task force members include state health Commissioner Howard Zucker, Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa and Beth Garvey, counsel to the governor.”
The governor’s office acknowledged to the Times-Union that there is a Department of Justice investigation but insisted that there was no news to report on the subject.
CBS has more on this developing story:
The FBI and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn have begun a preliminary investigation into how New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's administration handled nursing home residents who contracted COVID-19 in the early months of the pandemic, a person familiar with the matter told CBS News.
Cuomo senior adviser Richard Azzopardi said only that the Justice Department "has been looking into this for months," adding, "we have been cooperating with them and will continue to." The investigation was first reported by the Albany Times Union.
The FBI and the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of New York declined to comment.
The Cuomo administration has faced significant criticism after the state was forced to disclose that the COVID-19 death toll for nursing home residents is nearly 15,000. The state had previously said only 8,500 nursing home residents died from the virus — but that number did not include residents who died after they were taken to the hospital.
Cuomo admitted Monday that his failure to be open about the nursing home deaths fostered confusion and incorrect conclusions.
"The void we created by not providing information was filled by skepticism and cynicism and conspiracy theories which furthered confusion... you don't provide the information, something will provide the information," Cuomo said. "Most of all, the void we created allowed disinformation."
For what it's worth, the media is scrambling to distract Americans from the wave of bad press coming in for their beloved "hero" Andrew Cuomo.
They are instead focusing on more important matters, like Ted Cruz's vacation to Mexico...
Cuomo is now facing the very real possibility of impeachment as well.
It appears that the terrible democrat governors of this nation are finally being exposed for their failures, especially now that they can no longer falsely shift blame to President Trump.
