I can practically smell the lawsuits……

Reports have it that Biden has done away with President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency at the southern border.

Sources also say that a migrant caravan is heading here, other reports have Iranian nationals coming through our southern border, but never mind all that noise.

The border is secure ladies and gentlemen! No need to worry!

This reminds me of that time when Bush declared the war in Iraq had been won, yet the conflict went on for almost 20 more years.

Fox News had more on the story:

President Biden has ended the national emergency declaration at the border put in place by President Donald Trump in 2019 -- although 3,600 troops will remain in place until the end of the fiscal year.

The White House released a letter from Biden to Speaker Nancy Pelosi to notify Congress that he had reversed the 2019 declaration. The move was largely a formality as Biden, on his first day in office, had ordered a halt on construction of the wall at the southern border.

Trump had declared a national emergency in Feb. 2019 amid a stalemate over wall funding and months before a brewing border crisis exploded in the Spring and Summer. The declaration allowed him to shift billions of dollars in funding to the project -- of which 450 miles were built by the end of his administration.

The Hill also reported:

“I have determined that the declaration of a national emergency at our southern border was unwarranted,” Biden wrote in a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

“I have also announced that it shall be the policy of my administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall, and that I am directing a careful review of all resources appropriated or redirected to that end.”

Trump first floated the idea of a border wall on the campaign trail, repeatedly insisting that Mexico would pay for its construction. But in early 2020, Customs and Border Protection reported it had found $11 billion in funding for the wall.

The letter was welcome news to members of Congress long opposed to the wall who argued a physical barrier would do little to address immigration or security concerns.
