Welcome to clown world…
The DHS just issued a terrorism advisory for the United States.
The DHS has no information relating to any specific plot, however they say the advisory is due to a “heightened threat environment across the U.S.”
They cite concer over extremists who are “motivated by a range of issues, including anger over Covid-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use of force.”
Here are some of the specifics from DHS.gov
Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.
Throughout 2020, Domestic Violent Extremists (DVEs) targeted individuals with opposing views engaged in First Amendment-protected, non-violent protest activity. DVEs motivated by a range of issues, including anger over COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use of force have plotted and on occasion carried out attacks against government facilities.
Long-standing racial and ethnic tension—including opposition to immigration—has driven DVE attacks, including a 2019 shooting in El Paso, Texas that killed 23 people.
DHS is concerned these same drivers to violence will remain through early 2021 and some DVEs may be emboldened by the January 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. to target elected officials and government facilities.
The DHS directly points to anger over COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and illegal immigration.
While any form of actual terrorism should absolutely be condemned, they are painting with a dangerously wide brush here..
NBC News has this breaking story:
The Department of Homeland Security issued a national terrorism advisory warning Wednesday, citing a “heightened threat environment across the U.S.,” weeks after the deadly Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
In an alert, the DHS said Wednesday that a National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin would be in effect until April 30, believing that the threat would “persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential inauguration.”
While the DHS does not have any information related to a specific, credible plot, the department said that it remained concerned over violent extremists who were “motivated by a range of issues, including anger over Covid-19 restrictions, the 2020 election results, and police use of force.”
Fox News has more:
The Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday the United States is under "a heightened threat environment" in the wake of the Capitol riot earlier this month and violence in Portland and Seattle in recent days.
The department said it issued a National Terrorism Advisory System Bulletin after consulting with the intelligence community and federal law enforcement partners.
"There is currently a heightened threat environment across the United States that is likely to persist over the coming weeks," the bulletin read.
The bulletin noted that the agency does not have any information to indicate any "specific" or "credible" plots, but cited violence and unrest across the country related to the presidential transition.
"DHS does not have any information to indicate a specific, credible plot; however, violent riots have continued in recent days and we remain concerned that individuals frustrated with the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances and ideological causes fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize a broad range of ideologically-motivated actors to incite or commit violence," the bulletin read.
The announcement comes after the White House this week said "all violence" will be reviewed as part of the Biden administration’s effort to combat domestic violent extremism.
The Jan. 6 Capitol riot left five people dead – including a U.S. Capitol Police officer – as pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol as a joint session of Congress attempted to certify the electoral votes for Biden’s 2020 presidential victory.
Anti-fascist rioters have also recently taken to the streets in Portland and Seattle to cause destruction and chaos.
This kind of warning is completly unprecedented.
The DHS is essentially warning of a terror threat from our own citizens...
This is a very dangerous precedent to set...
