AOC claims that she feared for her life during the Capital riot last Wednesday.
She posted a lengthy Instagram Live video on Tuesday night, where she said that she had a “very close encounter” during the invasion.
AOC did not elaborate in any detail.
However, during the live stream, she did have this to say:
“I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive, and not just in a general sense but also in a very, very specific sense.”
Nobody is doubting that AOC may have feared for her safety, but perhaps had she taken seriousy and condemned all the riots over the last year, this may not have happened in the first place.
NBC News has the scoop:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., says she feared for her life as a violent mob stormed the Capitol building last week.
In a lengthy Instagram Live video Tuesday night, Ocasio-Cortez said that she had a "very close encounter," during which she thought she "was going to die." She didn't elaborate on the details, but cited security concerns.
"I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive, and not just in a general sense but also in a very, very specific sense," the congresswoman said during the hour-long live stream, calling the encounter during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol "traumatizing."
Ocasio-Cortez said it is "not an exaggeration" to say that many members of the House were "nearly assassinated."
Supporters of President Donald Trump stormed Capitol last week in protest of a congressional tally of the Electoral College votes confirming President-elect Joe Biden's win. As they raided the building, destroying property and attempting to breach both the House and Senate chambers, members were evacuated.
"We were very lucky that things happened within certain minutes that allowed members to escape the House floor unharmed," she added. "Many of us merely narrowly escaped death."
Luckily, AOC and her colleagues were all unharmed Wednesday.
However, some are saying that AOC and democrats are partially to blame for mainstreaming such violent behavior.
GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert accused AOC of "normalizing violence."
The New York Post has that story:
GOP freshman Rep. Lauren Boebert on Wednesday accused Democrats including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of “normalizing violence” ahead of last week’s Capitol riot.
Boebert (R-Colo.) said during debate on impeaching President Trump that he wasn’t entirely to blame for the rampage committed by his supporters, noting that some Democrats declined to denounce anti-police brutality riots last year.
“I rise today to oppose this impeachment and denounce the recent violence on the Capitol, just as I opposed the previous impeachment and the violence we’ve all witnessed all summer long across our great country,” she said.
“Make no mistake here, the hypocrisy of the left is on full display.”
Boebert, in her position for less than a month, took specific aim at Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), noting that she said last year that rising crime may be caused by people who “either need to shoplift some bread or go hungry that night.”
“What about the gentlewoman from New York who defended the looting by saying looters just wanted loaves of bread? Well, the last I checked, Best Buy and Teslas and stores of the like do not produce baked goods. Where’s the accountability for the left after encouraging and normalizing violence?” she said.
Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Both congresswomen are in their early 30s and have passionate followings.
Boebert concluded her speech saying, “I call bullcrap when I hear the Democrats demanding unity. Sadly, they are only unified in hate.”
Rep Boebert is on to something..
Democrats have incited violence for a while now.
Certainly, AOC has partaken in some bad rhetoric of her own in the past.
