This looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie.
The New York Police Department has recently released videos of its new Robot Dog named Digidog.
It’s reported that the robot dog is able to use its artificial intelligence to navigate things and use its built-in cameras to give police officers eyes in places where it would be too dangerous to go themselves.
Digidog was put to the test already in October, when officers used it for the first time when a man in Brooklyn barricaded himself in the house with a gun.
Take a look at the future of policing yourself:

ABC 7 News covered the story and shared these details about NYPD’s new addition to the force:
Eyewitness News got an exclusive look at a new tool the NYPD has at its disposal for responding to emergency situations.
It’s a robot dog known as “Digidog.”
“This dog is going to save lives, protect people, and protect officers and that’s our goal,” NYPD Technical Assistance Response Unit Inspector Frank Digiacomo said.
It weighs in at 70 pounds and is able to run about three and a half miles per hour and can even climb stairs.
“This robot is able to use its artificial intelligence to navigate things, very complex environments,” NYPD TARU’s Deepu John said.
John, one of many officers trained to operate the robot dog, says it’s as simple as playing a video game.
It’s covered with cameras and lights which allows police to get a real-time look at things.

It has actually bee used too, see what the New York Post had to add about the Robot Dog:
A fight over a parking spot ended with one combatant’s wife getting accidentally shot — and cops later deployed a robot “dog” when the gunman holed up in a nearby basement, according to police sources and photos from the scene.
The NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit responded, along with the robot — developed by Boston Dynamics and known as Spot, photos from the scene show.
The Robot Dog was created by Boston Dynamics and they not only have a Robot Dog but they robots in human shape form too.
Just take a look:
Most technology is intended for good but it seems like it always gets misused.
Let’s hope these AI robots don’t get too smart and into the wrong hands because then we’ll have a big problem.
