Watergate investigative journalist Carl Bernstein turned heads during an on-air interview by leaking the names of nearly two dozen GOP Senators who secretly despise President Trump.
So Bernstein claims at least.
While Bernstein displayed his contempt for Trump, he spoke about his outrage over these GOP Senators who shield their true feelings from the public.
Here’s the interview with CNN:

Woah!
That’s a lot of RINOs and fake allies for the president if true.
Here is Bernstein’s complete list:
I'm not violating any pledge of journalistic confidentially in reporting this: 21 Republican Sens–in convos w/ colleagues, staff members, lobbyists, W. House aides–have repeatedly expressed extreme contempt for Trump & his fitness to be POTUS. (1/3)

The 21 GOP Senators who have privately expressed their disdain for Trump are: Portman, Alexander, Sasse, Blunt, Collins, Murkowski, Cornyn, Thune, Romney, Braun, Young, Tim Scott, Rick Scott, Rubio, Grassley, Burr, Toomey, McSally, Moran, Roberts, Shelby. (2/3)

With few exceptions, their craven public silence has helped enable Trump’s most grievous conduct—including undermining and discrediting the US the electoral system.

Some of the mentioned names have barked back at Bernstein’s claims.
This is more false news from a CNN political analyst, as I was one of President Trump’s top defenders during impeachment and strongly support his legal efforts to ensure that every legal vote is counted.https://t.co/BYV9MI5Ofw https://t.co/ItnRr0xD5f

Other senator responses reported by the Washington Examiner:
Chris Hartline, communications director for Sen. Rick Scott, said, “This is dumb and doesn’t warrant a real response. Needless to say, Carl Bernstein has no idea what he’s talking about.”
“This is absolutely false. The senator has never talked to Mr. Bernstein, and we don’t know where he’s getting his false information. The senator supported President Trump’s reelection and believes his policies are better for Ohio and the entire country,” Emily Benavides, a spokeswoman for Portman, told the Washington Examiner.
“Mr. Bernstein’s sources clearly aren’t what they used to be. This simply isn’t true. Sen. Grassley has been a strong supporter of the president and, at the same time, has made it no secret when he disagrees with the president. There is no difference between what Sen. Grassley says publicly and privately,” a Grassley spokesperson said. “Washington journalists might be wise to reconsider trafficking in baseless second- and third-hand rumor. It may restore some lost credibility.”
A spokesperson for Young said, “These unsourced rumors don’t deserve a response. It’s clear Senator Young has a great working relationship with President Trump that has yielded several historic wins for Indiana including a Hoosier justice on the Supreme Court.”
“Senator Scott has never met, talked to or considered interacting with Mr. Bernstein, so no one should give any weight to the baseless accusations of someone who clearly has an axe to grind with the President,” Sen. Tim Scott’s office said. “Senator Scott has enjoyed a productive relationship with the President, passing tax reform, Opportunity Zones, permanent and historically high funding for HBCUs and more.”
Not on the list were top members such as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Bernstein may just be blowing smoke or flat out lying, but it makes you wonder the true feelings of the senators he listed.
As stated by Business Insider, only a handful of those named by Bernstein have acknowledged Biden as president-elect:
These 21 senators make up almost 40% of the 53 Republicans in the Senate.
Despite Trump’s protests, some Republican senators — including five that Bernstein listed: Romney, Rubio, Murkowski, Toomey, and Collins — have acknowledged that Joe Biden is the president-elect.
Romney, who has previously been critical of Trump, recently said in a blistering statement about Trump’s response to the election results that “it’s difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American President.”
Bernstein told CNN that he’d known about some of these senators’ feelings for the past two or three years. “Many, if not most, of these individuals, from what I have been told, were happy to see Donald Trump defeated in this election as long as the Senate could be controlled by the Republicans,” he said.
He added that more Republicans needed to speak out against Trump. “We are witnessing the mad king in the final days of his reign, willing to scorch the earth of his country and bring down the whole system, to undermine our whole democracy, strip it of its legitimacy, poison the confidence of our people in our institutions and the Constitution for Donald Trump’s own petulant, selfish, rabid ends,” he said.
“We have a president of the United States, for the first time in our history, sabotaging his country.”
