It's no secret that police officers support President Trump!
Only one candidate in this campaign has consistently touted "law and order."
And that candidate is Trump!
Well, NYPD officers have taken notice and are enthused to support the 45th president for reelection.
One NYPD officer was so excited that he began shouting "Trump 2020" through his bullhorn.
Some argue that he was exercising his right to free speech.
But the intolerant left will not have any of it.
The officer was suspended… WITHOUT PAY… as the incident is investigated.
See footage of the incident below:
People are furious at the NYPD for suspending the officer.
Why?
Officers were exercising political speech when caught marching with BLM protesters.
Some kneeled before the protesters.
Others joined hands.
Some chanted BLM slogans.
Yet... an officer shouts "Trump 2020" and is suspended for being "political."
Hmmm...
According to local CBS News:
An NYPD officer is suspended and under investigation after video surfaced of him saying “Trump 2020” over a bullhorn while in a patrol car.
Videos, allegedly taken in Flatbush, Brooklyn, were posted on Twitter on Saturday night.
Eric Jenkins-Sahlin captured a 30-second video from his apartment.
He told CBS2’s Cory James he hit record when he heard police and someone near the crosswalk at Crooke Avenue and St. Paul Place get into a confrontation around 10 p.m.
“I heard somebody say ‘Trump 2020,’ and there was kind of some maybe low-key shouting back and forth,” Jenkins-Sahlin said.
The NYPD’s patrol guide bans on-duty or in-uniform officers from “endorsing political candidates or publicly expressing personal views and opinions.”
Sunday afternoon, the department announced the officer was suspended without pay for “using a department vehicle’s loud speaker for political purposes.”
Neighbor Rebecca Anderson says what makes it worse is that it happened days before the presidential election.
“As a public servant, you would hope they would try to remain unbiased as much as they can, at least on the job,” she said.
Commissioner Dermot Shea tweeted saying the behavior of the officer is “one hundred percent unacceptable. Period.” He later added, “Law enforcement must remain apolitical, reassuring the public that we will enforce the law fairly and without prejudice regardless of anyone’s political beliefs.”
Chief of Department Terence Monahan also responded, writing, “Behavior like this will not be tolerated and will be dealt with.”
The Sergeants Benevolent Association responded on Twitter, saying, “The NYPD has a history of officers making political & outside the norm statements & ignoring it. Suspending, this officer is unnecessary & way over the top … What if the officer supported Biden?”
They also referenced a photo of Monahan kneeling and holding hands with Black Lives Matter protesters in June, saying, “Chief of Departrnent [sic] took a knee with protestors no disciplinary action was issued.”
While retired NYPD lieutenant Darrin Porcher agrees the punishment may be extreme, he feels a political stance should be left up to the union, not the officer.
“We as police officers need to remain our own personal feelings towards whoever our candidate is in private, but in public, we need to soldier on,” Porcher said.
This sort of punishment would be ok...
If there wasn't a double standard.
But it appears that conservative speech is being penalized while far left speech is being tolerated.
New York City leaders claim that no political speech is tolerated among the NYPD.
However...
Earlier this summer...
NYPD officers were KNEELING before the BLM movement.
According to The Hill:
New York Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Terence Monahan took a knee with protesters against the death of George Floyd in Manhattan Monday evening after a request from the demonstrators.
Video of the interaction shared on social media shows Monahan telling protesters that NYPD officers agree that the situation in Minnesota that led to Floyd’s death in Minneapolis police custody was wrong.
“There is not a police officer over here that thinks Minnesota was justified, we stand with you on that,” Monahan said, speaking to protesters from a microphone.
He then called for an end to violence, blaming it on outsiders coming into New York.
“But this is our city, our city. Do not let people who are not from this city have you come here and screw up your city,” Monahan said.
After he spoke, protesters cleared space and Monahan took a knee with demonstrators, held hands and lifted them into the air.
Monahan, the highest-ranking uniformed member of the NYPD, is then seen hugging a demonstrator.
Asked what the hug meant to him, Monahan said, “It means that the people who live in New York want New York to end the violence get the intruders that are not from the city the hell out of here and give us back our city.”
Officers in New York City as well as elsewhere in the nation have made similar gestures to show solidarity by taking a knee with protesters that are demonstrating against police brutality in response to Floyd’s recent death.
The American people are paying attention to this double standard.
Don't be surprised if we express our frustration through supporting President Trump for re-election!
It's time for this guise of political correctness to end!
