Twitter and other Social Media outlets like Facebook have officially revealed themselves to be the Orwellian tyrants we long suspected them of being.
It only took a few hours of The New York Post's bombshell release of Hunter Biden's emails for the company to begin blocking any and all articles by the publication which discussed the story to be banned.
From The New York Post:
Both Twitter and Facebook took extraordinary censorship measures against The Post on Wednesday over its exposés about Hunter Biden’s emails — with Twitter baselessly charging that “hacked materials” were used.
The suppression effort came despite presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign merely denying that he had anything on his “official schedules” about meeting a Ukrainian energy executive in 2015 — along with zero claims that his son’s computer had been hacked.
The Post’s primary Twitter account was locked as of 2:20 p.m. Wednesday because its articles about the messages obtained from Biden’s laptop broke the social network’s rules against “distribution of hacked material,” according to an email The Post received from Twitter.
Twitter also blocked users from sharing the link to The Post article indicating that Hunter Biden introduced Joe Biden to the Ukrainian businessman, calling the link “potentially harmful.”
“In line with our Hacked Materials Policy, as well as our approach to blocking URLs, we are taking action to block any links to or images of the material in question on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesperson told The Post in a statement.
The company said it took the step because of the lack of authoritative reporting on where the materials included in The Post’s story originated."
Lack of authoritative reporting?
The New York Post is one of the largest publications in the country.
This convenient excuse didn't stop Twitter and Facebook from letting discussions on Donald Trump'a tax returns to spread like wildfire.
No, in reality what Twitter meant was:
"Our CCP & DNC Masters do not approve this message."
Here's Yahoo running defense for the platform:
“In line with our Hacked Materials Policy, as well as our approach to blocking URLs, we are taking action to block any links to or images of the material in question on Twitter,” a Twitter spokesperson told National Review when asked why the platform was not allowing users to share the Post’s article.
Twitter’s Hacked Materials Policy states that it does not “permit the use of our services to directly distribute content obtained through hacking that contains private information, may put people in physical harm or danger, or contains trade secrets,” though the platform does currently allow leaked and hacked material from other sources, including Wikileaks, to be shared.
The platform said that the policy applied in this case due to concerns about the “lack of authoritative reporting” in regards to the origins of the material included in the article, and subsequently locked the Post’s Twitter account. Twitter’s actions came after Facebook announced it would limit the sharing of the story while fact-checkers reviewed the piece."
We are officially living in 1984.
These people believe that they can control what we think, what we discuss, and who or what we should support.
There need to be immediate consequences for this blatant election interference.
We need to end all protections of BIG TECH.
And we need to take our country back from these authoritarian techies who we have all made rich.
Answers aren't good enough anymore, Senator Cruz.
We need action.
