New York City mayor just made a ridiculous decision.

Many people in New York City are still struggling financially from the coronavirus pandemic and to top things off Mayor de Blasio wants to give $ 1,0000 fines for those who are not wearing a mask.

The mayor of New York City announced on Tuesday that the city will impose fines on those who do not wear a mask being there has been a 3% increase of cases since June.

NPR covered the story and added these details to the story:

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday that the city will impose fines on people who refuse to wear face coverings, after it saw a positivity rate for coronavirus tests of over 3% for the first time since June.

The fine is up to $1,000, the mayor’s office told NPR.

City personnel will hand out free masks to anyone who is not wearing a face covering, the mayor said.

“Anyone who refuses to wear a face covering will be told that if they don’t put one on, they will be fined,” de Blasio said. He said it would start immediately and on a large scale. “That will happen aggressively, clearly.”

Instead of cleaning New York City Mayor de Blasio thinks that just wearing a mask will fix everything.

New York City is practically a ghost town and the only thing the New York City mayor has to say is wear a mask.

This decision will drive even more people out of NYC.

Fox News stayed busy and covered the story too:

New York City residents will face a hefty fine if they refuse to wear a mask in public this fall, according to Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio.

People who refuse to wear a mask or face covering will be fined up to $1,000, NPR reported. The policy was announced after New York City officials announced a spike in the local positivity rate for coronavirus tests.

“We don’t want to fine people, but if we have to, we will,” de Blasio said during a press conference on Tuesday.

The fine would apply to people who refuse to wear a mask when asked by a law enforcement officer or health official. Masks will be offered to people who do not have one. The policy took effect on Tuesday.

It will be interesting to see if NYC can survive the coronavirus pandemic.

The democratic run city has suffered a lot of economic damage.
