Democrats interrupted General Barr.
In some cases they refused to let him speak.
And Jerry Nadler denied Barr's polite request for a 5 minute break so that he could eat lunch.
These are not opinions. These are facts.
Oh, did we mention that today's grilling… we mean, "hearing," of General Barr lasted 5 hours?
The House Democrats held a hearing for General Barr, questioning his decisions in recent weeks, including the call to send federal support to cities overrun by protesters.
It was a contentious hearing with Democrats "reclaiming" their time (more on that below).
But perhaps the most outrageous moment was when Nadler REFUSED to let General Barr take a 5 minute break (during a 5 hour hearing) so that he could eat lunch.
Trust us… you won't want to miss Barr's epic reply.
Watch the video below:
Can you imagine if Republicans treated an Obama-appointed offical this way?
If Republicans grilled Eric Holder the same way that Democrats grilled General Barr, the media would accuse the GOP of racism!
Yet the Democrats showed utter disrespect for Barr.
In fact, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro told Fox News that the hearing was a "moral absurdity":
"It was just ridiculous from beginning to end," Shapiro said on "The Ingraham Angle."
Barr clashed with House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., who accused the Attorney General of covering for President Trump and at one point denied Barr a five-minute break.
"The Ben Shapiro Show" host added that "the fact that Barr -- who is a public servant who's been around since the Reagan administration -- was treated this way, is a good reminder that when President Trump says, 'They're not coming after me, they're coming after you' to his supporters he's right about that.
"Because Barr is generic 'R.' He's not Donald Trump. He's just a normal run of the mill, very intelligent Republican, conservative. And they went after him as though he were Donald Trump, which means they'll come after virtually anybody so long as that person opposes the radical left agenda."
The Federalist senior editor Mollie Hemingway predicted that American voters who saw the hearing were given every reason not to support Democrats in November.
The way that Democrats handled themselves was objectively shameful.
See some of the highlights (or "lowlights") of the hearing below:
Conservative commentators believe that Democrats didn't want Barr to speak because he would expose the failures of the Democratic party.
Instead, they wanted to grill him for soundbites that they could use to appeal to the radicals in their base.
Barr appeared to suggest that the hearing was already delayed by 45 minutes to an hour thanks to the tardiness of Nadler.
According to The Hill:
Attorney General William Barr told House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) he was a “real class act” after Nadler hesitated to grant a five minute break at Barr’s request near the end of a Judiciary Committee hearing Tuesday.
“Mr. Chairman, could we take a five minute break?” Barr asked Nadler.
“No,” Nadler responded.
“I waited 45 [minutes], an hour for you this morning, I haven’t had lunch. I’d like to take a five minute break,” Barr responded.
The hearing was delayed Tuesday morning after Nadler was in a minor car accident on his way to the Capitol.
“Mr. Attorney General, we are almost finished. We are going to be finished in a few minutes. We can certainly take a break but,” Nadler said, before he was interrupted by Barr who told him “you’re a real class act.”
It's a shame that in the middle of an international pandemic, half of our lawmakers are more interested in scoring political points than actually legislating to help the American people.
Democrats have nothing to run on except for anti-Trump slogans.
President Trump, on the other hand, is running to fight for the American people!
