Marco Rubio: “China’s Houston Consulate Is A Massive Spy Center”

The consulate was ordered closed today by the Federal Government after an investigation linked it to Chinese espionage.

President Trump has been saying for years that China spies and China Lies.

They are our greatest existential threat that both parties have been coddling for decades as they plot our destruction.

Now the Trump Administration has closed down its consulate in Houston.

Our friends at Fox News reports that according to Senator Marco Rubio, the Houston location was part of a massive Chinese espionage operation:

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeted his support Wednesday for the shuttering of a Chinese consulate in Houston, claiming that spying activity was carried out through the facility.

The U.S. directed the closure of the consulate on Tuesday. The Chinese government said Wednesday morning that they had been instructed to do so without warning, but Rubio claims the move was "long overdue."

"#China’s Houston consulate is a massive spy center, forcing it to close is long overdue," he said, describing it as a "central node" of the Chinese Communist Party's spy operations.

"This needed to happen," he tweeted.

China called the closure an “unprecedented escalation" by the United States and threatened to retaliate, according to the South China Morning Post.

“China demands the U.S. revoke the wrong decision. If the U.S. went ahead, China would take necessary countermeasures,” said Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin.

State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said in a statement to Fox News that the closure directive was issued "to protect American intellectual property and Americans' private information.”

The U.S. "will not tolerate the PRC’s violations of our sovereignty and intimidation of our people, just as we have not tolerated the PRC’s unfair trade practices, theft of American jobs, and other egregious behavior," she added. "President Trump insists on fairness and reciprocity in U.S.-China relations."

Local affiliate ABC13 reports that the closure has resulted in the Chinese burning tons of documents in open containers in the courtyard:

The U.S. has ordered China to close its consulate in Houston in what a Chinese official called an outrageous and unjustified move that will sabotage relations between the two countries.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin condemned the action, which comes at a time of rising tensions between the world's two largest economies. He warned of firm countermeasures if the U.S. does not reverse its decision.

"The unilateral closure of China's consulate general in Houston within a short period of time is an unprecedented escalation of its recent actions against China," Wang said at a daily news briefing.

Besides its embassy in Beijing, the U.S. has five consulates in mainland China, according to its website. They are in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Wuhan and Shenyang.

The U.S. said in a brief statement that the consulate was ordered closed "to protect American intellectual property and American's private information." It did not provide any details.

Media reports in Houston said that authorities had responded to reports of a fire at the Chinese Consulate. Witnesses said that people were burning paper in what appeared to be trash cans.

"It appears to be open burning in a container within the courtyard of the Chinese consulate facility. It does not appear to be an unconfined fire but we have not been allowed access. We are standing by and monitoring," said Chief Sam Pena.

The Chinese Consulate was told to close the building by this Friday.
Houston police said in a tweet that officers responded to "a meet the firefighter" call at the Chinese Consulate building at 3417 Montrose Blvd. The tweet said that smoke was observed in an outdoor courtyard area, and that officers were not allowed to enter the building.

The Communist Dictatorship may kick and scream that this consulate closure is unprecedented and unjustified but who cares?

They are raiding this country through IP Theft, massive land grabs, and syphoning off American jobs with Chinese slave labor.

This is hopefully just the beginning of bringing the Communist Chinese to heel.
