Trump Threatens Funding/Tax-Status Of Schools Providing “Indoctrination” not “Education”

Trump is taking on the Education sector in the country, which many argue are hotbeds for leftist indoctrination.

Many universities and public schools are turning into leftwing propaganda mills all the while receiving tax payer money and tax exempt status.

If President Trump has his way, that may soon change.

As reported by ABC:

President Donald Trump on Friday wrote he was instructing the Treasury Department "to re-examine" the "tax-exempt status …and/or funding" of "universities and school systems" that, he said, "are about Radical Left Indoctrination, not Education."

In a pair of tweets sent while he flew to the battleground state of Florida for a series of events, Trump said: "Too many Universities and School Systems are about Radical Left Indoctrination, not Education. Therefore, I am telling the Treasury Department to re-examine their Tax-Exempt Status… and/or Funding, which will be taken away if this Propaganda or Act Against Public Policy continues. Our children must be Educated, not Indoctrinated!"

Trump did not provide any more details or indicate what had prompted his tweets.

The White House declined to comment when asked for more details and about what specifically prompted them. The Treasury Department did not respond to multiple requests for comment."

Our friends at Fox News had this to say about the move:

Republicans have long railed against alleged left-wing indoctrination in public schools and universities, citing "free speech zones," cases of professors and administrators showing hostility toward conservative students, and saying that in many cases faculty donate overwhelmingly to Democratic politicians and left-wing causes.

But it's unclear what exactly Trump was referring to in his tweets and it's also unclear whether he would be able to follow through on the threat. An attempt to remove the tax-exempt status of universities over political grievances could run into constitutional issues, and public school systems are largely funded by state and local taxes.

It's also unclear what exactly prompted Trump to make the threat on Friday, but the tweets come as he is engaged in rhetorical sparring with teachers unions, which have resisted his push to get children back into schools with few if any restrictions or anti-coronavirus measures. Teachers unions like the National Education Association (NEA), which has endorsed Joe Biden, have been critical of the Trump and those in his administration on that issue, as back-to-school season is little more than a month away in many places."

School reopenings and education in America, generally speaking, have become the newest flash points in the ongoing culture wars which have come to the fore in our new Covid world.

Anyone questioning whether many universities in the country have political bias need look no further than the treatment conservative speakers and students receive by the campus at large.

It's gotten to the point in recent years where the schools can't even, or won't even, guarantee the safety of speakers who the leftist fanatics on campus don't like.

Remember Milo or Ann Coulter?

Liberal universities, companies, and media figures have been waging war on the average American conservative for years.

I'm proud to say our President is finally taking the fight to them.
