A mannequin wearing a pig mask and police uniform was found hanging from an overpass on I-95 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Police were responding to a call about an apparent suicide.
But when the police arrived, they discovered a dummy dressed up as a police officer with a face mask hanging from the bridge.
The Jacksonville sheriff's office says that this incident was a "deliberate attempt to exasperate an anti-police sentiment."
More disturbingly, it's been reported that whoever "lynched" the mannequin scribbled the letters "KKK" on the uniform.
A suspect has not yet been identified.
More details on this disturbing case below:
Anger and hatred towards law enforcement has grown after the death of George Floyd.
Many observers believe that Democratic leaders have stoked anti-police sentiments by supporting protests that have descended into chaotic and violent riots.
ABC News confirms the mock lynching of a mannequin police officer:
A mock lynching of a mannequin wearing a police officer’s uniform and a pig mask has been found hanging over a highway.
The scene was discovered early on the morning of June 20 when emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 6 a.m. to investigate a possible suicide on an overpass of I-95 in Jacksonville, Florida.
When authorities arrived, however, they discovered that the scene did not involve a suicide but instead was a deliberate mock lynching of a mannequin wearing a pig mask and a police officer’s uniform.
"The incident that occurred this morning depicting the mock lynching of a mannequin dressed in what appeared to be the uniform of a law enforcement officer is extremely disturbing,” Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams in a statement. “Both the tactics and props used were a deliberate attempt to exasperate an anti-police sentiment and drive a divide in our community.”
The Mayor of Jacksonville issued a statement calling the incident “appalling and disturbing.”
“We are working to come together & invoke change & growth in our community,” said Mayor Lenny Curry in a Twitter post. “We won’t let an appalling & disturbing act like this derail our progress. I won’t tolerate actions like this so blatantly meant to intimidate our police nor will I stand for it against any citizen.”
The mannequin was removed and authorities have launched an investigation.
Said Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams: “This incident was carried out by people wanting to undermine our dedicated efforts to keep our city safe. Too many good citizens are working with us to keep our community safe through active partnerships, and frank conversations about the challenges we all face. This type of act will not be tolerated by our agency or our community, and we will work together to hold those responsible accountable."
Law enforcement exists in order to keep ALL citizens safe.
Yet the narrative that has been propelled by some political circles claims that the police are out to get minorities.
There is no statistical evidence to support these claims.
Almost a week after the incident, a suspect has not yet been identified.
The local police department has opened a hotline for anyone with leads to call so that they can get to the bottom of this intimidation threat.
Local First Coast News confirms the story:
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating Saturday after a mannequin was found hanging from the Interstate-95 overpass near the Zoo Parkway exit in a New York Police Department Uniform and a pig mask.
Around 6:20 a.m. officers responded to a call about a potential suicide by hanging on the overpass. At the scene, officers determined that it was a mannequin dressed in an NYPD uniform with a pig mask, officers said.
The mannequin was taken down and is being processed for DNA evidence by crime scene detectives to determine potential person(s) of interest, police said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS to remain anonymous or email jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org
Law enforcement risk their lives every day in order to protect the public.
It's time for the silent majority to stand up for them and defend them against this type of hatred.
While the left cries to "defund the police," we must DEFEND the police!
This November, there is only one candidate who clearly stands for law and order: President Trump!
