Great news for fans of “Last Man Standing!”

Tim Allen has announced that, YES, there will be a 9th season of the beloved sitcom.

Due to COVID-19, the shows 8th season was impacted and ended on its second to last episode, leaving viewers hanging.

It wasn’t just Last Man Standing.

Virtually every Hollywood production stopped filming as the nation locked down for the global pandemic.

Fortunately, though, Last Man Standing will continue with Season 9 and continue where Season 8th left off.

In fact, Allen has suggested that the would-be finale of Season 8 might turn into the premiere of Season 9. (This has not been confirmed).

The unusual circumstances of coronavirus means that shows like Last Man Standing are remaining fluid in terms of production schedule and writing.

More details, including Tim Allen’s major announcement, below!

Though Last Man Standing goes against the liberal tilt of Hollywood, it is not by any definition a political show.

The show is about families and the relationships that make them work.

Tim Allen explained, "Even for those of us who are political, that’s not much of our day. Most of our day is getting along and working, our families, [our] kids and the things at their school."

No wonder the show is such a success!

Fox News confirms that Last Man Standing will return for a 9th season:

Tim Allen just delivered some positive news to his "Last Man Standing" fans.

The actor, 66, announced on Twitter that the FOX show has been picked up for another season.

"Good news. Today Fox announced Last Man Standing is on for season 9!!!!" Allen tweeted.

Just last month the comedian spoke with Fox News about the show, in which he plays a father of three. In real life, Allen has two daughters, Katherine 31, and Elizabeth, 11.

The comedian admitted he and his castmates have found it "startling" that they've already completed eight seasons of the show. His hit sitcom "Home Improvement" lasted a total of eight seasons.

When speaking to us, Allen said the "Last Man Standing" cast has mirrored his own life, in that it's like a family.

"Although [the 'Last Man Standing' cast] doesn't replace the wonderful the beautiful 'Home Improvement' family that I still am close to, this family is now, we're empty nesters," Allen explained to Fox News. "Everybody at the show ... has grown up ..."

Specifically, he said the one episode where Eve's [Kaitlyn Dever] room gets an update reminded him of his oldest daughter growing up.

"You know, your kid's not coming back. They'll visit, they're not going anywhere, but they're not coming back to the bedroom they grew up in."

The show averages anywhere from 8 million to 9 million viewers a night, making it one of the most popular shows on cable TV.

Last Man Standing originally aired on ABC.

When the network dropped it, it was quickly picked up by Fox, where it has found great success.

Aside from strong ratings, the show also has a team of producers, writers, and directors who are all committed to creatively bringing together the best show possible.

Tim Allen has earned respect from many conservatives as well as many of his Hollywood peers.

He is a man of integrity and follows his heart.

Showbiz CheatSheet revealed that Allen turned down $50 million to continue Home Improvement, because he felt that 8 seasons was enough:

By the end of the eighth season, Home Improvement was struggling with audiences. Jonathan Taylor Thomas had moved on to other projects, and the ratings were lagging. Still, network executives were convinced it would be worthwhile to shoot one more season. They were ready to make the offer attractive to both Allen and Patricia Richardson, who played Allen’s wife, Jill.

In the end, Allen and Richardson stood united against the offer. They knew that the show was finished, and even an exorbitant amount of money was not enough to entice them into creating a subpar ending for a show they had worked so hard to build. Richardson turned down an offer of $25 million. Allen, even more shockingly, turned down $50 million.

It's not every day that you find someone, especially in Hollywood, who will turn down money because they don't agree with the direction of a project.

But when it comes to Last Man Standing, Allen says, "I never really felt we were finished. When we got [to Fox], the writers seemed like they got new ideas and it was really quite exciting. It was like a new show."

We're glad to hear it!

And we're excited to see what Season 9 brings!
