Trump naturally does one thing, so Democrats feel it’s necessary to do the exact opposite.
In an interview on Monday, Biden claimed that he would reverse Trump’s decision and restore funding to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Biden also remarked that the United States needs to be more “engaged” in the world.
Engaged with an organization that actively covers up China’s mistakes?
While the Trump administration simply put a pause on the WHO’s funding to ensure that there’s no foul-play occuring in the organization, Biden would simply turn the faucet of funds back on with no questions asked.
Here’s the details from the New York Post on Biden’s announcement:
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said that, if elected, he would undo President Trump’s funding cut for the World Health Organization, a move made by Trump to hold the WHO accountable for its role in the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Asked during an interview Monday with CBS Miami whether he would reverse the commander-in-chief’s decision to pull funding for the embattled agency, Biden said, “Yes I will.”
“But I’ll also insist that we … do what we were doing before. We had set up a pandemic office within the White House, President Obama. We had CDC … forward stationed in other countries to anticipate when we might see a virus coming, a pandemic coming, because there are gonna be more of these. So I would get much more engaged in the world,” the former vice president told the Florida-based network.
“We can’t step back. If in fact, for example, we solve the problem in the United States of America, and you don’t solve in the other parts of the world, you know what’s going to happen … We’re going to have travel bans, we’re not going to have to do economic intercourse with the world,” he continued.
The WHO has faced a wave of criticism in recent weeks over its handling of the virus response, with the Trump administration officials accusing the agency of being “China-centric” and catering to Beijing despite China’s record of lies on the virus.
Earlier this month, administration officials told The Post that efforts were underway to redirect “every single pot of money” from the WHO to other organizations.
It’s important for the United States to make sure that the money we send to organizations is used properly and with our interests in mind.
A Biden presidency clearly wouldn’t do this and would resume business as usual, with America funding organizations that cater to other countries.
Take a look at the latest tweets on Biden’s comments about the WHO:
The WHO stands accused of covering up the pandemic in order to appeal to Chinese interests. Many at the time wondered why it took the organization so long to declare the disease a pandemic.
Fox News previously reported on the accusations facing the WHO:
The World Health Organization (WHO) has increasingly come under the spotlight in recent weeks for its role in the coronavirus outbreak, culminating in the Trump administration temporarily halting funding.
Its role has prompted a cloud of criticism and questions over who knew what and when.
So how complicit or blind was the UN agency to the unfurling China concealment of the coronavirus?
"It is hard to say definitively at this point, which is why there needs to be an independent, external investigation into the WHO response to COVID-19 and China's potential influence over its decisions," Dean Cheng, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News. "What the WHO has done is to accept Chinese claims and statistics, no matter how outlandish. This should be clear, as the Chinese just 'corrected' their Wuhan fatality figure by 50 percent. The WHO never questioned the original statistics."
The U.S. is conducting a full-scale investigation into whether the coronavirus, which went on to morph into a global pandemic, escaped from a lab in Wuhan, China, Fox News reported earlier this week.
Fox News first reported on Wednesday that there is increasing confidence that the outbreak likely originated in a Wuhan lab, not as a bioweapon but as part of a Chinese effort to show that its efforts to identify and combat viruses are equal or greater than those of the U.S. Officials and the intelligence community have confirmed to Fox News that they have taken the possibility of the coronavirus being man-made or engineered inside China as some sort of bioweapon off the table and have ruled it out at this point.
Intelligence analysts are piecing together a timeline of what the government knew and “creating an accurate picture of what happened,” the sources said.
U.S. officials are 100 percent confident China went to great lengths to cover up after the virus was out, the sources said.
Additionally, the sources believe that the World Health Organization was either complicit in the coverup or looked the other way. Publicly, the WHO has insisted that there is no evidence it originated in the laboratory.
The holes in the information disseminated from the UN body – the only international group tasked with global health – are ascending.
