Actor Rob Reiner Encourages Sander’s Supporters to Back Biden

Some of the responses from Hollywood’s elites regarding the President’s response to the COVID crisis have been amusing. Others have been downright discouraging.

Rob Reiner’s criticism of President Trump appears to fall into the latter category.

Last month, the actor tweeted that democracy depends on removing Donald Trump and that voters must coalesce behind Joe Biden.

Now, Reiner is pushing Bernie Sander's supporters to rally behind Joe Biden in order to restore America.

Here's his latest tweet:

Breitbart details on Reiner's recent tweet:

Hollywood director Rob Reiner is attempting to win over diehard Bernie Sanders supporters — “Bernie Bros” — by encouraging them to line up behind Joe Biden, promising that Biden will bring about the “biggest landslide” election in U.S. history.

On Monday, Rob Reiner tweeted a call for Democrat unity shortly after Bernie Sanders endorsed his former rival Joe Biden. “If Sen. Sanders’ supporters do the same, Decency, Humanity, Science and Justice will defeat ignorance, Racism, Corruption and Incompetence by the biggest landslide in U.S. History,” Reiner wrote.

Reiner has been voicing his support for Biden since March, at one point writing that Democrats need to put their differences aside and coalesce behind Biden. The director of The Princess Bride, This is Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men said in April that he believes Biden possesses the “best chance” to defeat President Trump in the next election.

“I think that if he [Biden] becomes president, on day one, America will be brought back to where it belongs in the world,” said Reiner.

Other celebrities to urge Democrats to unify behind Biden include Alyssa Milano, Barbra Streisand, and Rosie O’Donnell.

Several responded on Twitter to the actor's support for Biden:

Unfortunately for Biden, an endorsement from Rob Reiner might not mean much. The Hollywood elitist previously accused President Trump of directly causing people to die in New York.

Fox News reported:

Rob Reiner took to Twitter to accuse President Donald Trump of causing people in New York to die amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The actor and director is rarely shy about posting his political opinions on social media. He’s previously criticized Trump, his administration and his followers throughout the president’s term in office. On Tuesday, he took to Twitter to lambaste Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in New York.

“There’s no other way to put this: Donald Trump is causing people in NY to DIE,” Reiner wrote.

The declarative tweet was then retweeted by fellow Hollywood Trump critic, Cher.

On Thursday, Reiner followed up with a message of support for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo as well as the frontline healthcare workers battling the virus. In it, he predicted that Trump would attempt to take credit for their hard work once the pandemic is all over.

“Important to remember: One day this crisis will be behind us. Gov. Cuomo, other responsible leaders, heroic health care workers & vigilant citizens will be the victors. This Egocentric Lying President who spreads disinformation will try to take credit. Don’t let him,” Reiner wrote.

This isn’t the first time that the outspoken 73-year-old director criticized Trump’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. Reiner previously called for Trump’s removal from office over his handling of the situation at the onset of the outbreak.

“We will get through this. But unfortunately not with the help of this President,” Reiner wrote. “First he must be removed from the public square to let competent experts take over, then he must be removed from office to allow US to heal.”

Rob Reiner has done very little to conceal his disdain for Trump. Last summer, he appeared on MSNBC and advocated for impeachment proceedings to begin as soon as possible.
