Covfefe: Maine Couple Opens Trump-Themed Coffee Shop in His Honor

The coffee shop has some really creative blends, including the Border Blend, The Don, Deplorable Blend, Bold American Coffee, and much more!

The store also carries pro-Trump and pro-MAGA merchandise. 

Owner Jestin Merchant emphasized that he's not looking to be political or mean-spirited.

Rather, Merchant is hoping to create a positive atmosphere for those in Trump Nation.

A couple opened a patriotic coffee and gift shop in honor of President Trump last week in Rockland, Maine.

Owner Jestin Merchant said he wanted Covfefe Coffee and Gifts to be a place where customers can openly show their support for the president, according to the Bangor Daily News.

“From a business standpoint there really isn’t anything else like this out there,” explained Merchant, who runs the shop with his wife, Carrie.

“I recognized the need in this area, that there should be a spot where people can come and support Trump and not feel like they’re strange or different because they do support the president,” he stated.

February 10, the couple told reporters of their intent to open the shop at 325 Old County Road where they flew a Trump 2020 flag outside the building.

The Merchant’s coffee is from Thrasher Coffee Co., a Georgia-based company that is not shy about its support for the president.

“When you order from Thrasher Coffee, you’re going to enjoy such a freshly roasted cup it will make you glad all over again that you woke up another day in Trump Nation,” the company’s about page read.

With names like MAGA, The Don, #45 Blend, and Border Blend, it is no wonder the Merchant’s coffee shop has done so well. They also sell MAGA hats, bumper stickers, and books by conservative commentators like Ann Coulter.

“I was amazed by the amount of support,” Merchant noted, adding, “People from all over the state of Maine are coming out of the woodworks in support of this.”

The name of the coffee shop is based on a tweet where Trump wrote about the "negative press covfefe."

Though the tweet was deleted, Trump taunted his tormenters. 

Covfefe Coffee and Gifts has been open for 1 week.

In that week, the shop has already sold out of red maga hats!

People have been driving from miles in every direction to support the new coffee shop.

Soon, Republicans in Knox County will be able to go to the shop to get Trump yard signs.

Local news 13 WGME interviewed Merchant, who said he expects the coffee shop to be a year-long endeavor:

In the week the shop has been open, Merchant said it’s received an outpouring of support. It sold out of MAGA hats within two days.

“I was amazed by the amount of support,” he said. “People from all over the state of Maine are coming out of the woodworks in support of this.”

Merchant said there has been some pushback in online forums, and from one woman who drove up to the shop, laid on her horn and flipped the bird.

But even if you’re not a Trump fan, Merchant said he hopes people can get a kick out of the shop and maybe buy a gift for the Trump supporters in their lives. Merchant pointed out that none of the merchandise features negative commentary.

“We’re not looking to offend or be mean-spirited,” Merchant said. “You may not support Trump or you may not support his ideas, but I guarantee there is probably someone in your family who does and they would love to have a Trump gift.”

Merchant said he hopes the shop can be a place for civil discussions in an era when social media is changing the way we talk to one another.
