Standing Ovation as Melania Receives “Woman of Distinction” Award

First Lady Melania Trump just received a huge honor from Palm Beach Atlantic University.

The University awarded Melania the 2020 Women of Distinction Award!

It is definitely well deserved, especially as the First Lady fights to improve child welfare through her #BeBest campaign.

See more below:

As to be expected, liberals were furious when they learned Melania would receive this high honor.

Left-wing users on Twitter went nuclear.

Students at the university began protesting for days.

Despite all the pushback from online trolls and a few vocal students, Melania Trump received a standing ovation when she received the Woman of Distinction Award.

Palm Beach Post has more on the warm reception Melania received from the crowd:

First lady Melania Trump stepped on and off the stage at The Breakers Hotel on Wednesday amid standing ovations during the Women of Distinction luncheon, where she received the annual award for her #BeBest, child welfare campaign.

The first lady spoke for nearly nine minutes from a prepared speech, thanking Palm Beach Atlantic University, which usually fetes two women with ties to the local community who have championed local charities.

This year the nominating committee at PBAU decided the first lady should be the sole recipient of the award.

“America’s first lady has sounded the call for action,” said PBAU president Bill Fleming. “She serves as a role model with brilliance, elegance and grace.”

As for her ties to the community, the first lady described herself as a “member of the Palm Beach community” — a reference to the first couple’s announcement in September that they had changed their permanent residence from New York to Palm Beach.

We're happy to hear that those in attendance understand why Melania is the perfect recipient for this award!

While the pushback from a few students made media headlines, not many in the media are covering the First Lady's warm reception.

Newsweek even confirmed the standing ovation for Melania:

Trump accepted the award in front of a sold-out luncheon where she received standing ovations for her speech, which focused on her Be Best campaign, an initiative aimed towards enriching the lives of American children.

"Technology has become a daily part of our children's lives in both positive and negative ways," Trump said about her program's efforts to keep children safe online. "We live in an age where too many people allow the number of retweets or likes to define their self-worth. I am convinced now more than ever that teaching healthy online behavior is crucial to securing a safer future for our children."

President Trump announced his decision to move from New York to Florida in October 2019, citing unfair treatment from "political leaders" as a reason.

"1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN," the president tweeted, "but my family and I will be making Palm Beach, Florida, our Permanent Residence."

Of course, the irony is that while Melania is fighting for children through her #BeBest campaign, she herself has become the victim of liberal bullies.

But that will not slow her down.

Melania is committed to teaching children respect and kindness.

Her #BeBest campaign also compliments the Trump administration's efforts to reduce the number of U.S. opioid deaths, which has recently dropped for the first time in decade.

Melania is truly a woman of distinction who is committed to nurturing the most vulnerable among us.

Thank you, Melania, for caring about our children!
