Congratulations Jim!

News broke today that Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows would both be receiving big promotions to powerful positions.

From Fox News:

Two of President Trump’s biggest allies on Capitol Hill have been selected for top GOP roles on a pair of committees.

The House GOP Steering Committee met Thursday and recommended that Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan serve as ranking member of the powerful House Judiciary Committee effective March 12, and that North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows take Jordan’s spot as Oversight Committee ranking member for the remainder of this Congress, Fox News has confirmed.

The full conference now has to ratify the recommendation, which was first reported by The Hill. Current House Judiciary Committee Chairman Doug Collins, R-Ga., will step down from that post as he pursues a Senate seat.

Jordan and Meadows were among Trump’s strongest defenders during the impeachment proceedings and served on his legal defense team.

Here's more, from Politico:

House GOP lawmakers have picked Rep. Jim Jordan — one of President Donald Trump’s most loyal allies on Capitol Hill — to be the next top Republican on the powerful House Judiciary Committee.

And retiring Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), another top Trump defender, has been tapped to take over Jordan’s leading GOP spot on the House Oversight Committee — a move that will put some of the president’s fiercest attack dogs on the frontlines of combatting Democratic oversight efforts.

The full Republican conference still needs to approve Jordan and Meadows for the posts, but usually backs the recommendations from the Steering Committee, which includes the top members of GOP leadership — including Jordan’s former rival House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), whose vote carries the most weight.

Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming(R-Wyo.), the No. 3 House Republican, said it was a “totally unified decision all around.”

Collins is not expected to step down immediately, and leadership has indicated that they would give him time to transition his staff. Jordan will officially start on March 12.

Yesterday, President Trump had a good time with a friendly roast of Jordan during his celebratory acquittal speech.

You gotta see this:

How can you not love this guy?

Both of them.

Our wonderful President and Jim Jordan.

We have a great team, don't we?
