A report from the Times of London says Prince Andrew has been ordered out of Buckingham Palace.
I like how Bill Ritter put it:
Fox News has confirmed the story:
Prince Andrew was ordered to move his private offices out of Buckingham Palace in the wake of an announcement he made that he would be formally relinquishing his official duties following a nuclear interview he gave to the BBC. In it, he defended his longtime friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, according to The Times of London on Friday.
The paper reported Andrew’s own mother, Queen Elizabeth, gave the Duke of York his walking papers as he continues to face a slew of criticism amid allegations he had sex with an underage girl.
In the BBC interview, the 59-year-old prince attempted to establish an alibi for a key New York trip in the Epstein scandal, in which Andrew claimed he had stayed with former diplomat Sir Thomas Harris, the consul-general in New York at the time. Allegations made against him by accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre were impossible, Andrew said in the sit-down conversation, according to the New York Post.
Andrew also stated during the interview that he has "no recollection of ever meeting this lady, none whatsoever."
Meanwhile, a statement from Prince Andrew suggests he was the one who made the decision to go, which strikes me as kind of like when a head coach in the NFL or a top college team suddenly announces in the wake of a scandal or a poorly performing year that he's stepping down because he "wants to spend more time with his family."
You catch my drift?
Don't forget, Andrew is in this story: Why Do So Many Politicians and Celebrities Have Black Eyes?
Here was his statement:
And from the NY Post:
Disgraced Prince Andrew has been kicked out of his offices at Buckingham Palace.
The British royal got his marching orders and was told to clear out on Friday — just days after announcing he was formally stepping away from official duties after a “car crash” of an interview defending his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, the Times of London reported.
According to the report, the 59-year-old prince, who is facing a sea of criticism amid allegations he had sex with an underage girl, was told he and his staff would have to find another location to do business — a move authorized by the queen.
The report is only the latest humiliation for Andrew this week, amid reports the disgraced Duke of York was also fired from royal duties by his mother, who was reportedly concerned the scandal would tarnish the rest of the famous household.
On Thursday, the Queen also fired Andrew’s longtime private secretary Amanda Thirsk after she pressed the prince to undergo the now-infamous BBC interview, in which he tried to use a bizarre medical disorder to debeunk the claims of Epstein accusers, the Sun reported.
The embattled duke is the first member of the British royal family to step down from official duties because his reputation was so tarnished, according to the Times report.
