The impeachment hearings are over.
All the witnesses Democrats could muster up have spoken – and, all have failed to incrimate President Trump through anything but shaky, questionable hearsay.
It wasn’t a difficult task to demolish apart the Democrat’s argument for impeachment, piece by piece, and Rep. Jim Jordan really took it to task.
When it came to the final Democrat witness David Holme’s testimony about supposedly overhearing an unbelievable call between Trump and Sondland, Rep. Jim Jordan was the man to cut it to pieces.
And, it only took one question.
If, as Holme’s testified, the Trump-Sondland call was so “remarkable”, how come the Democrat star witness Ambassador Taylor – Holme’s boss – never once brought it up during his testimony?
Watch Jim Jordan throw a wrench in the Democrats’ case here for yourself:
Here's a transcript of Jordan's tear-down of Holmes' testimony about the call from C-Span:
Jordan: “WHY DIDN’T YOUR BOSS BRING UP THE CALL YOU OVERHEARD, THE REASON YOU’RE HERE TODAY, YOU’RE THEIR CLOSING WITNESS, THE FIRST WITNESS, AMBASSADOR TAYLOR DIDN’T EVEN BRING IT UP. WHEN WE DEPOSED YOU, YOU SAID THIS WAS EXTREMELY DISTINCTIVE EXPERIENCE, ONE OF THE MOST REMARKABLE EVENTS OF MY LIFE.
YOU DESCRIBED IT LIKE THIS, YOU SAID AFTER THE CALL HAPPENS, I IMMEDIATELY TOLD DEPUTY CHIEF ABOUT THE CALL AND YOU WENT ON VACATION, TOLD SEVERAL FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THE CALL, THEN YOU COME BACK ON AUGUST 6th AND TELL AMBASSADOR TAYLOR ABOUT THE CALL.
AND THEN IN YOUR DEPOSITION STATEMENT, YOU SAID IN YOUR STATEMENT TODAY AS WELL, I REPEATEDLY REFER TO THE CALL IN MEETINGS AND CONVERSATIONS WHERE THE ISSUE OF THE PRESIDENT’S INTEREST IN UKRAINE WAS RELEVANT.
I REPEATEDLY REFERRED TO THE CALL IN MEETINGS AND CONVERSATIONS WHERE THE ISSUE OF THE PRESIDENT’S INTERESTS IN UKRAINE WAS RELEVANT.
THAT SOUNDS LIKE GOVERNMENT SPEAK FOR YOU TOLD EVERYBODY. YET THEIR STAR WITNESS, THEIR FIRST WITNESS, AMBASSADOR TAYLOR, WHEN HE CAME HERE, HE RELATED 13 DIFFERENT CONVERSATIONS HE HAD BETWEEN JULY 18th WHEN THE AID IS FROZEN, SEPTEMBER 11th WHEN IT’S REESED, 13 DIFFERENT CONVERSATIONS, NEVER ONCE MENTIONING THIS CALL, JULY 19th, DR. HILL, COLONEL VIND — JULY 20th, SONDLAND TOLD TAYLOR WHAT HE TOLD TRUMP.
JULY 28th, MORRISON TELLS TAYLOR WHAT HAPPENED ON THE TRUMP ZELENSKY CALL. AUGUST 24th, TALKS TO TAYLOR,AUGUST 22nd, MORRISON TALKS TO TAYLOR, AUGUST 29th, SEPTEMBER2nd, MORRISON TELLS TAYLOR, SEPTEMBER 7th MORRISON TELLS TAYLOR WHAT SONDLAND TOLD TRUMP, AND SEPTEMBER 8th, SONDLAND TELLS TAYLOR WHAT TRUMP TOLD SONDLAND.
NOWHERE IS THERE A HOLMES TELLS TAYLOR WHAT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TOLD SONDLAND.
Mr. Holmes:
THANK YOU, SIR. I BELIEVE AMBASSADOR TAYLOR DID KNOW WHEN I BRIEFED HIM WHEN I RETURNED FROM VACATION ON THE 6th. IT WAS NOT NEWS TO HIM THAT THE PRESIDENT WAS PRESSING FOR A BIDEN INVESTIGATION.
Wall Street Journal had the following to say about Jordan pressing Holmes on this:
In a heated exchange, Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) repeatedly pressed David Holmes on why acting Ukraine Ambassador Bill Taylor didn't mention that Mr. Holmes overheard a call with President Trump in his initial testimony.
"Why didn't your boss bring up the call that you heard...I mean you're their closing witness," asked Mr. Jordan, the former wrestling coach's voice booming in the hearing room. He read back Mr. Holmes' own closed-door deposition, in which Mr. Holmes testified that he told Mr. Taylor about the call soon after it happened.
Mr. Holmes tried to answer but Mr. Jordan cut him off.
"I'll give you a chance in a second," he said, alleging that Democrats needed a flashy witness to close the hearings, so that's why they called Mr. Holmes.
"Maybe Mr. Holmes he thought it was no big deal because he already knew. ... The transcripts been out for two months maybe the ambassador thought there's nothing new here," Mr. Jordan said. "But shazaam! ... You're their closing witness because you overheard the president talking on the phone.
The Washington Post also said this about Jordan's questioning of Holmes during the hearing:
After Castor’s introductory questioning and questions from a Democratic member of the committee, it was the turn of Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who has earned something of a reputation for his style of questioning, generally merging volume, velocity and hectoring into sometimes-confusing riffs.
That was the approach he took with Holmes on Thursday. In his patter, he pressed Holmes to explain why, if a July 26 call between Trump and Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland was so important, Holmes’s boss, acting Ukraine ambassador William B. Taylor Jr., hadn’t mentioned it in his testimony.
What Jordan said:
“Mr. Holmes, why didn’t your boss talk about it?” Jordan asked. “Why didn’t your boss bring up the call that you overheard? The reason you’re here today. I mean, you’re their closing witness. Yet their star witness, their first witness, Ambassador Taylor, didn’t even bring it up.”
