Famous journalist Carl Bernstein, who is well-known for his investigative role in covering the Nixon-Watergate scandal, believes AG Bill Barr is now preparing to drop a bomb that will expose the shady dealings of the Deep State.
Bernstein is no fan of Trump, but he admits that, from what his sources say, President Trump is going to be vindicated soon in his allegations of a massive “Deep State conspiracy!”
Mr. Bernstein’s belief that AG Barr is about to deliver proof of such a conspiracy comes in the midst of what some are dubbing Dossier 2.0 – the Soros-linked whistleblower complaint Dems are using to try to get Trump impeached.
Carl Bernstein revealed his belief that Barr is about to prove the Deep State's hand in a massive conspiracy on CNN, of all places.
Here's that video:
The Washington Examiner has more to say about this:
Veteran investigative journalist Carl Bernstein said his sources are telling him that Attorney General William Barr is preparing to push a "deep state" conspiracy to protect President Trump.
ÂDuring an appearance Thursday on CNN, the famed Watergate sleuth reacted to controversy about an intelligence community whistleblower who filed a complaint alleging Trump improperly leveraged military aid to encourage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.
ÂTrump attacking the whistleblower's sources as being "close to a spy" and alluding to capital punishment, Bernstein said, provided "real time" evidence of the president's corruption. Additionally, Bernstein said the release of the Trump-Zelensky call transcript and the whistleblower's complaint provided proof of "the president’s corruption, of his willingness to undermine the free electoral system in this country, to involve foreign powers in our election and also to try and get involved at the president’s behest there."
ÂThe complaint and the notes of the July 25 call, both released to the public this week, show Trump urged Zelensky to speak with his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and Barr about investigating the matter related to Joe Biden, who is now a leading Democratic candidate for president.
ÂThe Justice Department denies Barr ever spoke to Trump about it, and the attorney general has resisted Democratic calls for him to recuse himself from Ukraine-related investigations, but Bernstein insisted that Trump's comments are proof of the attorney general's "connivance" to put out a narrative about sinister forces within the federal government bureaucracy taking aim at Trump.
ÂThe Justice Department also received a criminal referral about a potential campaign finance violation in relation to Trump's phone conversation with Zelensky but declined to take action after a review.Â
ÂBernstein said Barr is trying to "bring about proof that there is a deep state conspiracy that led to" special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation and suggested that this is a story other journalists are chasing. "Barr is trying to deliver — and I have this, as do other reporters from other sources — to deliver evidence that perhaps this has all been a deep state conspiracy just like Donald Trump alleges," he said.
Real Clear Politics has a partial transcript of what Bernstein said on CNN:
BROOKE BALDWIN, CNN: In a critical moment for the Trump presidency after a whistleblower complaint alleges the President tried to get a foreign power to interfere with an election, and the White House tried covering that up.
With me now, CNN Political Analyst Carl Bernstein. He of course won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on President Nixon's Watergate scandal and Carl, let me add to all of the flurry of news today that "The New York Times" is also now reporting that the President wants to know who spoke with this whistleblower and then in front of this audience this morning, he threatened you know, officials, U.S. diplomats, you know, reminding them whoever did talk is a spy and then mentioned treason and what the penalty for treason is. Your response, sir?
CARL BERNSTEIN, CNN POLITICAL ANALYST: Today is a historic day because we are seeing both in real-time with the President's remarks, and also through documentary evidence his corruption, certainly in terms of what he has tried to do to undermine the free electoral process in this country. We see his temperament in an extreme, perhaps even greater than we've ever seen before. In terms of his remarks, talking about treason and executing people.
And remember the other day, he was talking about the electric chair that must have been on his mind for the past few days. So we're watching tooth, an unraveling in front of us both factually and also temperamentally in terms of the conduct of the President of the United States.
And why? Well, partly because the President of the United States recognizes that there is in this whistleblower's documents, terrible evidence of the President's corruption, of his willingness to undermine the free electoral system in this country to involve foreign powers in our election, and also to try and get involved at the President's behest or with the Attorney General's connivance, the Attorney General who is trying meanwhile, to bring about proof that there is a deep state conspiracy that led to the Mueller investigation.
That's what some of these comments in the whistleblower's remarks are about.
BALDWIN: Let's get to that.
BERNSTEIN: Some of what the President is talking about, when he is saying, oh, I want you to talk to Barr. Barr is trying to deliver and I have this as do other reporters from other sources to deliver evidence that perhaps this has all been a deep state conspiracy, just like Donald Trump alleges.
